Student answer (Band 6.0)

Yes i think if people reduce the number of times to fly every year than its environmental benefits for individuals because when plane fly in air than it affect the environment. Airplanes produce carbon dioxide if use of airplanes is reduce then in enviroment carbon dioxide. Air population is reduce to this and due to this climate change is also reduce. So if reduce the use of airplanes then its very benefical for environment. If environment is good than nature is also good. There are many disease that cause due to environmental change and air pollution so if we less the use of airplanes then disease is also decrease. It also save the fuel because airoplane use many fuel than other vehicle so less use of airplanes also help to minimize the use of petrol for example now days petrol is big problem for almost countries now days so it also minimize the use of petrol.

With advantages there is also disadvantages of less use of airplanes. If we are travelling one country to another by car,bus and train than its very difficult and time taken to travel from one site to another. Now days time is very big problem for every individuals if people not use airplanes for travelling than its very time taken. For example if one person go in vications from one country to another using train than he spend most of time in travelling. Airplanes also help to save the time. One of the another example is that if some one in emergency and he like to travel from one country than its possible to travel with in one day without airplanes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the environmental benefits and the disadvantages of reducing air travel. However, the development of ideas is limited. The environmental arguments are repetitive, focusing primarily on carbon dioxide and pollution without exploring the broader context of the industry. The disadvantages are also somewhat superficial, relying on simple examples like 'vacations' and 'emergency' travel. To reach a higher band, you need to extend your arguments with more depth and provide more sophisticated reasoning regarding the impact on global business and personal connectivity. The position is clear, but the support remains basic throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is divided into two main paragraphs, which is a good start. However, the progression of ideas within these paragraphs is often mechanical and repetitive. You rely heavily on simple connectors like 'if' and 'so', which makes the flow feel somewhat disjointed. There is a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices to link sentences and ideas more fluidly. For instance, the transition between the environmental benefits and the disadvantages is abrupt. Improving the use of linking words such as 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'on the other hand' would significantly enhance the logical flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'good', 'bad', 'problem', and 'use'. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'air population' (instead of air pollution) and 'in vications' (instead of on vacation). While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is not sufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. You should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to the environment and transportation to improve your precision and range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Examples include 'if use of airplanes is reduce' (should be 'reduced') and 'there is also disadvantages' (should be 'there are'). The sentence structures are predominantly simple, with few attempts at complex sentences. When complex structures are attempted, they often contain errors that impede the flow. To improve, you need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb forms, and practicing the use of complex structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences.
