Student answer (Band 6.0)

These days, and increasing number of people opine the statement that there should be reduction in the level of times they fly annually or stop flying in any terms.I believe that there are some minor drawbacks which outweighs the disadvantages which will we discussed in the further paragraphs with valid reasons and appropriate examples.

On the one hand reducing the annual flyovers by individuals might get economic or financial loss to the individual itself and aviation sector. As nowadays aviation sector is on the hype and developing and a major sector by which government have revenue; Moreover the people living abroad also cannot come for reunions with there families, For instance a person living in Belgium for any kind of job or business and his/her family is living in India, so the individual living in the Belgium cannot come to India to meet his/her family in the vacations or any kind of family functions like marriage or engagements.

On the other hand it is true that there might be some disadvantages of using aviations to fly twice or thrice a year but using any kind of sustainable energy is not possible in flights, For example as we talk about the land transport there is a development by using electric vehicles there is less use of fossil fuels and air pollution is also reducing.

To conclude, I opine the fact that reducing in the number of flyovers in the year by an individual might be a liability to the aviation sector as well as to the business for which he/she is working as some business might be international and have to move from one place to another.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt but lacks a clear, consistent position. While you state that you believe the drawbacks outweigh the benefits, the body paragraphs are confusingly structured. The first body paragraph discusses the disadvantages of reducing flights, but the second paragraph fails to clearly argue for the environmental benefits, instead drifting into a discussion about sustainable energy in land transport. The conclusion contradicts your introduction by suggesting that reducing flights is a 'liability,' which makes your overall stance unclear. To improve, ensure each paragraph directly supports your thesis and provides a balanced view that explicitly weighs the environmental benefits against the economic disadvantages.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. Transitions are often mechanical or misused, such as 'On the other hand' being used to introduce a point that does not effectively contrast with the previous paragraph. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas within sentences, leading to a disjointed flow. For example, the transition between the discussion of aviation revenue and the example of family reunions is abrupt. Improving the use of linking words like 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' or 'nevertheless' would help guide the reader through your arguments more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'aviation sector' and 'kind of.' There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'reducing the annual flyovers' (instead of 'reducing the frequency of flights') and 'on the hype' (which is informal and incorrect in this context). To reach a higher band, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to environmental and economic topics, and avoid informal or colloquial expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'drawbacks which outweighs'), incorrect article usage (e.g., 'the aviation sector'), and punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after periods. Sentence structures are relatively simple, and attempts at complex sentences often contain errors, such as the run-on sentence in the introduction. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for punctuation and capitalization errors.
