Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people have decided to reduce the number of times they fly every year or to stop flying altogether. In my opinion, it is good for the environmental benefit, because it can reduce pollution like dangerous gases.

Firstly, the great advantage to reduce the number of times they fly every year or to stop flying altogether is decreasing in pollution. For example, in Pakistan there are lots of industries, and each industry emissions polluted gases. And these dangerous gases mix with climate. After that when these gases come into the human body, and these gases create the lungs disease, and even death. And the air fly is also releasing CO2 gas in the air, and make cause the death. In my opinion, reduce the number of times they fly, its good idea for keep the climate clean.

Secondly, the big disadvantage to reduce the number of times they fly every year or to stop flying altogether is impact on business. For example, when we are traveling from one country to other country, we give money. And this make the Economic better. When people travel other countries for enjoyment or spend holidays, they pay. And this money would use for growth of economy. So, its a disadvantage for the country economy.

In conclusion, its good for short time to reduce the pollution. And many cars or other heavy vehicles, we are using in our daily life creat air pollution. If it can be reduce, it creates a great impact on business. So, it should not be reduce but the use of fly are reduce mean only use in years not dail or monthly.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both environmental benefits and economic disadvantages. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding pollution are somewhat repetitive and lack depth, focusing heavily on general industrial pollution rather than specifically addressing the impact of air travel. The conclusion is slightly confusing, as it contradicts the earlier points by suggesting that flying should not be reduced but rather limited to specific frequencies. To improve, you should focus on clearly articulating your position in the introduction and ensuring each body paragraph provides a well-developed, logical argument that directly relates to the specific topic of aviation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, phrases like 'After that when these gases come into the human body' create awkward transitions. The logical progression within paragraphs is sometimes hindered by repetitive sentence structures and a lack of varied linking words. To improve, try using a wider range of cohesive devices such as 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' or 'on the other hand' to connect your ideas more fluidly and logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, often relying on simple phrasing like 'good idea' or 'big disadvantage.' There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'the air fly' instead of 'air travel' or 'aviation,' and 'creat air pollution' (spelling error). The range of vocabulary is limited, which prevents the expression of more nuanced ideas. To achieve a higher band score, you should work on using more precise terminology related to the environment and economics, such as 'carbon footprint,' 'economic repercussions,' or 'sustainable travel.'

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('each industry emissions polluted gases'), article usage ('the Economic better'), and sentence fragments or run-on sentences. The range of grammatical structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. There are very few attempts at complex structures, and those that are attempted often contain errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
