Flying has become an essential part in the daily lives of many given the comfort and convenience it provides . Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 173 words. Because the essay is incomplete and stops abruptly in the second body paragraph, the task is only partially addressed. The position is stated in the introduction, but the development of ideas is severely limited due to the lack of length. The argument regarding the impact on businesses is not developed at all, as the sentence remains unfinished. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full, balanced argument with sufficient supporting evidence for all parts of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay shows some basic organization with an introduction and body paragraphs. However, the progression of ideas is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used in a somewhat mechanical way, such as 'Although' and 'In terms of'. Because the essay ends mid-sentence, the overall coherence is negatively affected. To improve, focus on completing your thoughts and using a wider variety of linking words to connect your arguments more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, with phrases like 'carbon footprints', 'toxic emissions', and 'respiratory diseases' showing a reasonable attempt at topic-specific language. However, the range is limited, and there are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'In individual capacity' which should be 'On an individual level'. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, but it lacks the sophistication required for higher band scores.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as the run-on sentence in the first paragraph: '...as they believe the positive environmental impact it creates outweighs the issues caused by this decision especially to businesses and individuals.' Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequent errors and the incomplete nature of the final sentence limit the score.
