Student answer (Band 7.0)
A group of individuals have made a decision to minimize the frequency of their annual flights or to quit flying altogether. In my opinion the environmental benefits of this act outweigh the disadvantages because this activity will not only reduce the air pollution but it will also lead to reconstruct the safer environment for birds.
The airplanes offer a number of advantages, such as they are a faster way of transportation and the more comfortable one. The air travel is also facilitating the lives of businessmen significantly as these can be used more conveniently to transport materials required by the entrepreneurs.
Despite of a number of merits offered to the mankind, the airplanes are affecting the sustainability of our environment because it releases more pollution by burning Kerosene oil as compared to the transport. This pollution is threatening the nature in different forms like Ozone depletion, Global warming, and melting of ice and ultimately flooding. Moreover, air flights can also affect the environment of flying birds as it is evidenced by a study that a number of birds strike with flying object are increasing day-by-day. So, these factors, favors the decision of the people who have decided to reduce or stop flying.
To conclude, I would like to put forward that the significances of the specific decision are outweighing their advantages so flying should be quitted or minimized in order to maintain the sustainability of our environment. Meanwhile, the scientists must research for reducing the air pollution emitted by the planes and zoologist might propose ways to make safer environments for birds.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position that the environmental benefits outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, covering both the environmental impact (pollution, ozone depletion) and the practical benefits of air travel (speed, convenience for business). However, the development is somewhat limited; the point about birds is a bit narrow and lacks depth. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the economic or social consequences of reducing flights more thoroughly, providing more nuanced arguments rather than listing points. Overall, the position is consistent throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Despite of', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or misused, such as 'Despite of' (which should be 'Despite' or 'In spite of'). Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall progression of ideas. The paragraphing is appropriate and contributes to the overall coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'sustainability', 'ozone depletion', and 'entrepreneurs'. There are some instances of awkward word choice or collocation, such as 'reconstruct the safer environment' (which is unnatural) and 'quitted' (the past participle of 'quit' is 'quit'). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that less common vocabulary is used accurately in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the more comfortable one' (unnecessary article), 'as it is evidenced by a study that a number of birds strike with flying object are increasing' (clunky syntax and subject-verb agreement issues), and 'significances of the specific decision are outweighing' (incorrect tense/word choice). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding. To achieve a higher score, you should aim for more error-free complex sentences and pay closer attention to articles and verb forms.
