Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the environmental benefits and the disadvantages of reducing air travel. However, the position is not fully developed. While you acknowledge both sides, the argument lacks depth and specific analysis regarding whether the benefits outweigh the disadvantages. The examples provided, such as the mention of Indian migrants in the Middle East or the vague reference to a 'recent escalation,' are somewhat tangential and do not directly support the core argument about the environmental impact versus economic consequences. To reach a higher band, ensure your main ideas are clearly stated in the introduction and supported by more focused, relevant evidence throughout the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclusion' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear. For instance, the transition between the environmental benefits and the economic impact in the third paragraph feels abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the overall flow and logical progression of your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'CO2 emissions,' 'aviation industry,' and 'infrastructural development.' However, there are instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'minimize the flying duration of a year' instead of 'reduce the frequency of flights' and 'escalation of one of the middle east country' instead of 'geopolitical tensions.' To improve, focus on learning more precise collocations and academic phrases to express your ideas with greater sophistication and accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the middle east'), pluralization ('different nationals'), and verb tense consistency. Some sentences are also slightly fragmented or lack proper punctuation, which affects the overall readability. To achieve a higher score, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Additionally, try to incorporate more complex sentence structures, such as conditional clauses or passive voice, while ensuring they are used accurately to avoid errors that might impede communication.
