Student answer (Band 6.5)
Many individuals have decided to reduce frequency or stop travelling by air route in a year because of environmental effect. I think the benefits of the ecosystem by this evolution outweigh the drawbacks for individuals and airline companies.
On one hand, people prefer to travel by aeroplane in order to wish for a comfortable journey and to save time. The business of flying companies offer employment to many citizens at the airport and they provide facilities to travellers that attract more users. For instance, the international flights provide multiple meal options to their passengers at the same time offering entertainment sources. The sudden drop in the number of travellers can have some disadvantages like, the shut down of airway companies, employment reduction and economy drop.
On the other hand, the aeroplane and helicopters spread air pollution and noise pollution. The carbon emission in the layer of the atmosphere can reduce the ozone layer which is protective against UV rays. The reduction in flying frequency has a beneficial impact on the environment. The area surrounding the airport experiences too much noise. This problems can be overcome by st
In conclusion, disadvantages of drop in flying frequencies can be overcome by alternative options such as domestic travel by trains or buses. I am inclined to believe that the benefits of decrease in travel by air are more crucial in order to reduce pollution.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both environmental benefits and the drawbacks for individuals and businesses. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum requirement, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. The arguments are presented but remain somewhat superficial; for example, the point about 'economy drop' is mentioned but not fully explored or supported with specific evidence. Additionally, the final paragraph is incomplete, ending abruptly with 'st', which prevents a full conclusion. To improve, you must expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure the essay meets the minimum word count to allow for a comprehensive discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use transition signals such as 'On one hand' and 'On the other hand'. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete final paragraph. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, but the lack of a finished conclusion makes the overall structure feel disjointed. To achieve a higher score, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that your ideas flow logically to a complete, well-rounded conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'environmental effect', 'carbon emission', and 'atmosphere'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'air route' instead of 'air travel' and 'flying companies' instead of 'airlines'. Some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'wish for a comfortable journey'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, you should aim to use more precise academic collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing to improve your lexical range and accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'The business of flying companies offer' (subject-verb agreement) and 'This problems can be overcome' (plurality error). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the incomplete sentence at the end of the third paragraph is a significant issue. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that you proofread your work to avoid unfinished sentences or fragments, which detract from the overall grammatical control.
