Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both the environmental benefits and the drawbacks for individuals and businesses. However, the position is not fully developed. The ideas are somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding 'air pollution' and 'less revenue.' The explanation of the drawbacks is quite superficial, relying on vague examples like 'STAR flying company.' To reach a higher band, you need to provide more nuanced arguments and specific, well-explained examples. The introduction is slightly confusing because the prompt asks for your opinion, but you present the arguments without clearly stating your stance until the very end, which makes the position feel less consistent throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, phrases like 'Commencing with the merits of the environmental is that...' are grammatically awkward and hinder the flow. There is also a lack of variety in linking words, with 'To explain' and 'To cite an instance' being used repeatedly. While the progression of ideas is logical, the transitions between sentences are often forced, making the writing feel somewhat disjointed rather than cohesive.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited and often repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'flying vehicles' or 'less' instead of more precise academic vocabulary. There are also several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'economic generate' instead of 'economic generation' and 'lost of economic' instead of 'loss of economic revenue.' Some phrases are unnatural, such as 'flying stop' and 'travelling fly.' To improve, focus on learning collocations and using a wider variety of synonyms to avoid repeating the same words throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'nations have been starting'), incorrect word forms (e.g., 'environmental merits' used as a noun phrase), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'some individuals should decide to less reduce their use'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction prevents the essay from reaching a higher band.
