Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the environmental benefits and the disadvantages for businesses and individuals. However, the position is not clearly maintained throughout the essay. The development of ideas is limited; for instance, the mention of 'education' being difficult due to this trend is not explained or supported with relevant examples. The argument lacks depth, and the conclusion does not clearly weigh the two sides as requested by the prompt. The response is somewhat repetitive, and the ideas are presented in a fragmented manner, which prevents a fully developed argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear logical progression. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the transitions between ideas are abrupt and often confusing. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and repetitive way, such as the frequent use of 'Because' and 'If'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of the argument. The overall structure is disjointed, and the lack of effective linking words between sentences and paragraphs hinders the clarity of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to convey complex ideas effectively. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'stop the travel of flying' and 'our companies have in loss'. The range of vocabulary is narrow, relying on simple terms like 'good', 'bad', and 'difficult'. To improve, the student needs to use a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental issues and economics, and pay closer attention to how words are combined in natural English phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('This trend have a big disadvantage'), verb tense usage ('some individuals choosing to fly'), and sentence structure. The essay relies heavily on simple sentences, and attempts at complex structures are often faulty or incomplete. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with many sentences being fragmented. The high frequency of errors in basic grammar significantly limits the clarity and professional tone of the writing.
