Student answer (Band 5.0)

Many people believe that reduce the number of travel or fly altogether every year effects the individual or businesses. However, this step can be beneficial for enviromental concern.

Frequent travel by flight can cause air pollution as aeroplane release harmful carbon dioxide. This directly pollute the air and environment. People travelling once in a year runs fewer flights which ultimately helps in tackle the climate changes. For instance, people can travel by a train rather a short-flight.

On the other hand, due to fewer travel or stop flying altogether effects the individauls and bussiness. Individuals might find travelling by flight convienent. Similarly, they might struggle to meet their loved ones who live in abroad. Moreover, businesses might face trouble in tourism. Since they might be unable to counsel the client face to face .some business leads to shutdown. For example, business get hamper if the oversea client unable to attend on meeting through bussiness flight.

I believe in long-term definetly fewer flight tavel outweight the advantage in the enviromental benefits eventhough there are short-term loss to the individuals and businesses. The air pollution will be subsiquently drop and benefits in more oxygen prod

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 193 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the arguments remain superficial and lack sufficient depth or supporting evidence. While you have addressed both sides of the argument—environmental benefits versus individual and business disadvantages—the under-length nature of the essay means that the position is not fully developed. To improve, you must expand on your points with more detailed examples and logical explanations to ensure the response is comprehensive and meets the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. For example, the transition between the environmental benefits and the disadvantages is clear, but the internal flow within paragraphs is occasionally disjointed. Some sentences feel disconnected, and the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the conclusion is abrupt and incomplete. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and supporting details will enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'enviromental', 'individauls', 'bussiness', 'convienent', and 'subsiquently'. Additionally, some word choices are inaccurate, such as 'counsel the client' (which usually implies legal advice) instead of 'consult' or 'meet', and 'oxygen prod' which is an incomplete thought. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and proofreading your work to eliminate basic spelling mistakes that distract the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'Many people believe that reduce the number of travel... effects the individual' (should be 'reducing' and 'affects'), 'aeroplane release' (subject-verb agreement), and 'business get hamper' (should be 'businesses get hampered'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with sentence fragments and missing articles. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on subject-verb agreement, correct verb forms, and ensuring that your sentences are complete and grammatically sound.
