Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the environmental benefits and the disadvantages for individuals and businesses. However, the development of ideas is limited and often superficial. For example, the argument regarding 'air born disease' is vague and lacks logical support. The position is stated in the introduction, but the conclusion is abrupt and fails to synthesize the arguments effectively. The response is quite brief in its development, and some points, such as the mention of 'freedom', are not clearly linked back to the core question of whether the benefits outweigh the disadvantages. To improve, you should provide more specific examples and ensure each paragraph has a clear, well-supported main idea.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Firstly', and 'In addition'. However, the use of these devices is often mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'In this why' or 'Due travel'. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak, making the progression of ideas feel disjointed. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between sentences is often abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each sentence flows logically from the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'air fly' instead of 'air travel', 'make the carbon footprint' instead of 'generate a carbon footprint', and 'expend the business' instead of 'expand the business'. These errors occasionally impede communication. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely. To improve, you should focus on learning common collocations related to environmental and economic topics and pay closer attention to word forms (e.g., 'perceptive' vs 'perspective').
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('Every people have', 'it create'), article usage, and sentence structure ('this is make the personal growth'). Complex sentence structures are attempted but are often faulty, leading to confusion. Simple sentences are used for the most part, but even these contain errors. To improve, you must focus on basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and articles. Proofreading for these fundamental errors will significantly improve your score.
