Student answer (Band 5.0)

It’s very essential to use the technology in wisely whether it could a digital or practical. This eassy draws your attention to advantages and disadvantages on the usage of flights every year.

In today’s era, it is very common to fly from one place to another especially for business man.

They have to attend meetings internationally then I believe air transport is the only fastest way to travel. Moreover by using flights , its helps to reduce traffic on roads and also there will be less crowd on public transport like buses and trains . This is also beneficial for those who can’t afford flights tickets they can travel in other public transport if they were less crowded. In addition to this by travelling flights can save people’s time because its faster than other transport.

It also contributes to country’s economy because air transport are used from all over the world not only bussiness man but also international students and tourists.

On the other hand if we have a look on disadvantage on the use of flights it could be environmental pollution and the cost of maintaining the air transport service. As i think it could be useful of using flights but not essential for everyone it depends on the people’s need .

To sum up , everything can be used in its limit to get benefits. In my opinion the pros of using flights outweigh the cons of not using it .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. While you address the topic, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack depth. For instance, you mention the environmental impact but do not explain the specific benefits of reducing flights in relation to climate change. Furthermore, the position is somewhat contradictory; you argue that flights are essential for business and time-saving, but then acknowledge environmental pollution without fully weighing these against each other as requested. To improve, ensure you provide specific examples and fully explore both sides of the argument to reach the word count and provide a more balanced, analytical response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. Transitions are often mechanical or misused, such as 'In addition to this by travelling flights can save people’s time'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is disjointed. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices, they are not used with enough flexibility to create a smooth, coherent argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'nevertheless') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly relates to the prompt.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'essential', 'common', and 'useful', which do not demonstrate the range required for higher bands. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'business man' (should be 'businesspeople' or 'business travelers') and 'used from all over the world'. The phrasing is often simplistic, which hinders the ability to express complex ideas about environmental issues or economic impacts. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to the environment and aviation, and focus on using more precise adjectives and nouns.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'It’s very essential to use the technology in wisely', 'its helps to reduce traffic', and 'air transport are used'. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the simple sentences used often contain errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
