Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, the utilisation of airways for the means of transportation is increasing rapidly. However, some people believe that reduction in the number of times they fly every year or completely bring pause on this may become beneficial for the environment. I also believe that this development has more benefits regarding environment in comparison to the drawbacks for the business or individual.
The first and the foremost, declining from utilisation of airways becomes beneficial for reducing the pollution. Because, tourists at an airport spreads litter around them including plastics and other harmful things which are dangerous for the environment. For instance, according to a statistical data of India almost 25% of total land pollution is caused due to waste collected from the airports. Moreover, it is a best way to conserve the non-renewable resources and fuels. By limiting the use of air transport the resources may use for other purposes for development of the nation. Additionally, the radio waves of aeroplanes and jets affect the birds which ultimately results in decrement of the number of birds in the world.
To counter this, it also has drawbacks for businesses such as organisation which construct or design the aircraft may experience the problems of unemployment and loss of their investment for the work. The whole investment for the resources and the parts of aeroplanes may remained in corner and result in loss of the company. For individual, it becomes difficult to meet their family members if someone is studying abroad or living in abroad for the work purposes.
To summarize, refraining from flying altogether have several environmental benefits like conservation of fuels and resources as well as controlling the pollution and saving the birds life. Though it has some drawbacks for the businesses and individual, it can be solved by using the work force for other work or using the technology. Hence, the positive impacts far exceeds the potential downsides.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that the environmental benefits outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, such as pollution reduction and resource conservation, though some arguments are slightly underdeveloped. For example, the claim about airport litter causing 25% of land pollution lacks a clear logical link to the act of flying itself, and the point about radio waves affecting birds is scientifically questionable. To reach a higher band, ensure that arguments are supported by more logical and universally accepted reasoning. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points and reaffirms the writer's stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The first and the foremost', 'Moreover', and 'To counter this', although some transitions are slightly mechanical or non-standard. The progression of ideas is generally logical, moving from environmental benefits to economic drawbacks and finally to a conclusion. However, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between airport waste and the act of flying could be more explicitly linked to improve the flow of information.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'utilisation', 'non-renewable', and 'refraining', which is positive. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'bring pause on this' instead of 'cease flying' and 'decrement of the number of birds'. Some phrasing is slightly unnatural, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Improving the precision of word choice would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the utilisation of airways'), subject-verb agreement ('tourists... spreads'), and verb forms ('may remained'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward phrasings that interrupt the flow. The writer demonstrates an ability to construct complex sentences, but the frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage would be beneficial.
