Student answer (Band 6.5)
Environmental pollution is a major concern for all the nations and multiple measures are applying to reduce it. Due to the environmental issue few people have decided to lessen their travel by air or totally stop flying. In my opinion, this development has more advantages than drawbacks.
Not Using planes for the travel is the wisest choice, if we want to save the environment. Air vehicles pollutes air as well as it causes noise pollution too, which causes multiple airborne diseases as well as hearing problem . For instance, In today's world, new born babies are born with asthma disease which is caused due to bad quality of air. Moreover, not using air mode for travelling is beneficial for people as well as businesses because the fares of airplane are too expensive and not everyone is able to affort it. So avoiding it, can save money. Furthermore, businesses also gets benefit for not using planes for travelling. It can reduce physical meetings and shifted to online platforms. It helps in saving time as well as reduce frequent meetings. For example, MNC ceo's do not need to fly to every country for a meeting, they can use online modes for meetings.
On the other hand ,The disadvantages of not flying is that, it takes a person more days to reach a different location from other mode of transportation. Air crafts can reach fast from one country to another. So, it can save time. Additionally, it has high standards which can give a person a smooth and tired less journey, which is not possible in other travelling modes. Besides, It can also useful in emergencies such as natural disasters or any kind of medical emergencies. For example, every year there are any kind of natural incidents happened around the world, and for no other modes of transportation will help to rescue the people other the air mode.
In conclusion, There are few disadvantages of not using air vehicles but the advantages are more when it is for saving the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing arguments for both the environmental benefits and the disadvantages for individuals and businesses. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the environmental benefits are discussed, the argument regarding businesses saving money by avoiding air travel is a bit simplistic and lacks depth. The examples provided, such as the mention of newborn babies with asthma, are relevant but could be more effectively linked to the specific topic of aviation emissions. Overall, the response covers the requirements of the task well, but further elaboration on the economic impact would have strengthened the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the arguments. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the environmental impact and the economic argument in the first body paragraph is abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but the paragraphing is standard and lacks the sophisticated management of ideas required for a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'environmental pollution', 'airborne diseases', and 'natural disasters'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'air vehicles pollutes air', 'tired less journey', and 'MNC ceo's'. These errors do not impede communication but indicate a lack of precision. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on more natural collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing, such as the frequent use of 'not using air mode' or 'air vehicles'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('air vehicles pollutes', 'businesses also gets benefit') and article usage ('the fares of airplane', 'the air mode'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and capitalization errors (e.g., 'ceo's'). While the student attempts complex structures, these are often where the errors occur. The writing is understandable, but the frequency of these minor errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band for grammatical accuracy.
