Student answer (Band 5.5)

Airways have become more preferable choice of people over the years. But there are some travellers who are determined to reduce the number of travelling via airplane every year which is a noticeable change. As per my opinion the environmental benefits of this development outweigh the drawbacks faced by the individuals and businessman.

In very first place the reduction of airflyers will create a significant impact on the environment.

As airplanes burn heavy fuel and release high amounts of carbon dioxide which will get decreased eventually by this and the upper layer of atmosphere will get more clearer over the years . In result there will be increament in the air quality due to which global warming will get decline.

Secondly by this, local tourism will get more encouraged by the travellers due to which that perticular city will earn more via tourism which eventually lead to economic growth. Meanwhile not to worry about business as more online meeting will get scheduled which will reduce the travelling time and the jet lag and the work or deals can be done faster.

In conclusion as per above arguements on my favor to reduction in the flyers or the thought of preventing flying altogether, as this benefits in many ways wheather it environmental air condition or reduction of global heating whereas it also contributes in increasing national tourism rather than international or getting deals confirm more faster therefore there are enough aspects which clearly overshadow the disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that environmental benefits outweigh the disadvantages. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention air quality and local tourism, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. Furthermore, the response is 245 words, which is below the 250-word minimum requirement. This under-length negatively impacts the task achievement score as it prevents a fully developed discussion of the complex issues involved. To improve, ensure you expand on your points with more detailed explanations and reach the required word count to fully explore the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'In very first place', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' to signal the progression of your argument. However, some transitions are slightly awkward or mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure would benefit from more sophisticated linking words to connect ideas within paragraphs more effectively. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the logical progression is sometimes hindered by the brevity of the supporting points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on some repetitive or slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'airflyers' and 'get decline'. There are also minor word-choice issues, such as 'businessman' (should be plural 'businesses') and 'arguements on my favor'. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations related to environmental and economic topics, and ensure you use words in their correct grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Airways have become more preferable choice' (missing article), 'upper layer of atmosphere will get more clearer' (incorrect comparative structure), and 'deals confirm more faster' (incorrect adverbial usage). While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors in basic sentence construction prevents a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and the proper formation of comparative adjectives.
