Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, there has been a growing tendency among people to reduce the number of times they flying each year. While the development may have certain disadvantages for individuals. Although this trend may create certain difficulties for individuals and businesses. I believe that its advantages, particularly in term of environmental benefits outweigh these drawbacks.
One of the main advantages of reducing air travel is its positive impact on the environment. Airplanes produced a considerable amount of greenhouse gasses, which contribute to global warming and climate changes. If fewer people fly, carbon emissions from the aviation industry could be reduce. Moreover, this development may encourage people to use more sustainable from transport, such as trains and buses, particularly for shorter journeys. As a result, reducing unnecessary fights can contributing in cleaner environment
However, there are some disadvantages for both individuals and businesses. For individuals, avoiding flights can make international travel mortimer consuming, while some people may have fewer opportunities to visit members or travel for leisure. Businesses may also be affected because international flight are often necessary for face to face meeting, conferences and maintaining relationship with overseas clients. Nevertheless, many business activities cannot be conducted through video conferencing, which can reduce the need of travel, they saving both valuable time and considerable travel expenses for companies.
In conclusion, although reducing air travel may cause inconvenience and individuals can create some challenges for business, I believe that long-term environmental benefits are more significant. Therefore, the advantages of this development outweigh its disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that the environmental benefits outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, covering both environmental impacts and the challenges for individuals and businesses. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the discussion on business impacts could be more deeply explored with specific examples beyond just mentioning video conferencing. While the position is consistent, the essay would benefit from more nuanced analysis to reach a higher band, as some points remain slightly superficial. Overall, it is a well-structured response that fulfills the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the advantages and disadvantages. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'As a result', and 'Nevertheless' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. There are minor issues with sentence-level cohesion, such as the fragmented sentence structure in the introduction ('While the development may have certain disadvantages... Although this trend...'). Despite these minor lapses, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'greenhouse gasses', 'carbon emissions', and 'aviation industry'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'mortimer consuming' (likely a typo for 'more time-consuming') and 'reducing unnecessary fights' (likely 'flights'). The range is sufficient for the task, but the lack of precision and occasional errors in collocation prevent it from reaching a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as 'Airplanes produced a considerable amount' (tense error), 'could be reduce' (passive voice error), and 'can contributing in cleaner environment' (verb form/preposition error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors indicates that the writer has not yet achieved the level of control required for a higher band.
