Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this modern society, some people are choosing to fly less frequently because of concerns about the negative impact of air travel on the environment. Although reducing flights may create certain difficulties for individuals and bussinesses, i believe that the environmental benefits of doing so are greater in the long term.

There are several disadvantages to reducing air travels for individuals flying is the quickest means of transportation it be useful for students for abroad studies for bussiness purpose and to meet with relatives if the flying ways are cahnged or instead of that ships or trains can not be travelled fast and it takes longer to reach and discomfort and inconvience faced by amny persons.for instance bussiness partners are rely on foriegn clients and to deal contracts they have to travel oveseas.

However, if less people can travel at a time it would be drastically benefit for the environment as the co2 gases emitted by the airways are useful for greengass system and accounted for the climate changed conditions which can impact on the environment.

It can be improve by reducing taking unneccesary flights to travel for example bussiness employess can contact through video calls for there client matters and probably the deals purposes also it cn be beneficial to avoid the usage of airways. it can significantly improve the environmental condition by less polluting it.

Overall, faster moving rails can be used instead of airways and for short journeys trains can be a good substantial for airways.

In conclusion the disadvantages are outweigh the advantages in many ways by improving and avoiding the unnecessary flights to take.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the environmental benefits and the disadvantages for individuals and businesses. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that air travel is important for students and business, the explanation is brief and lacks specific, well-developed examples. The conclusion is also slightly contradictory, as you state that 'the disadvantages are outweigh the advantages,' which contradicts your earlier position that the environmental benefits are greater. To improve, ensure your position is consistent throughout and provide more detailed, logical support for each of your main points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the logical flow between sentences is often hindered by a lack of appropriate cohesive devices. Many sentences are joined awkwardly or lack transition words, making the progression of ideas feel mechanical. For example, the transition between the disadvantages and the environmental benefits is abrupt. Additionally, some sentences are run-on, such as 'flying is the quickest means of transportation it be useful for students,' which confuses the reader. Using a wider range of linking words like 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' or 'nevertheless' would improve the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several spelling errors, such as 'bussiness,' 'foriegn,' 'inconvience,' and 'amny,' which occur frequently. You also use some awkward phrasing, such as 'the co2 gases emitted by the airways are useful for greengass system,' which is factually and linguistically unclear. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more accurate terminology related to the environment and business, and pay closer attention to spelling and word choice to ensure your meaning is conveyed clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'bussiness partners are rely on'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'it can be improve'), and punctuation errors, particularly the lack of full stops between independent clauses. These errors are noticeable throughout the text. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that each sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practice using commas and periods correctly to avoid run-on sentences.
