Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays,an increase number of people are preferring to fly less frequently each year, while some have decided to give up air completely.I believe that environmental benefits outweighs the disadvantages for individuals and businesses.

The most significant effect of this development will be on enviorment. It will have positive impact on environmental pollution that is markedly caused by combustion of fuel .Furthermore, people will choose environmental friendly transports, such as trains, buses and cars which causes less pollution.

However, reducing air traveling will cause significant disadvantages for individuals and businesses. This is the fastest way to travel for individuals and forgein trips. In addition, there will be great effect on forgein business meeting.Businessman will find it difficult to manage their important meetings .

Additionally, there will be great effect of travelling by roads and railways. It will reduce the enviormental crises and expenses.Morever, indivials can arrage online meeting for buisnesses. So,they will save travelling expesnses and ecosystem.

In Conclusion, reducing the frequency of travelling by air will not only save environment,it will save money and time as well and it will outweigh the disadvantages

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 169 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you have addressed the prompt by stating a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient detail or illustrative examples. For instance, you mention the impact on business meetings but do not expand on how this affects global economic structures or individual career progression. To improve, you must elaborate on your points with specific examples and ensure your response is long enough to fully explore the complexities of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is hindered by the brevity of the content. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'However', and 'Additionally', the flow between ideas feels somewhat mechanical. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between the environmental benefits and the business disadvantages is abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects back to your main argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'enviorment', 'forgein', 'indivials', 'arrage', and 'buisnesses'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable. You tend to rely on simple, repetitive phrasing. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary related to environmental issues and business, and pay closer attention to spelling and word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'an increase number of people' (should be 'an increasing number'), 'environmental benefits outweighs' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'combustion of fuel' (missing article). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent and demonstrate a lack of control over complex structures. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage.
