Student answer (Band 6.0)

Issues about travelling by air has become a subject worth discussing. While some individuals have made up their minds to curtail how frequently they travel by air annually, they have also considered to put an end to doing such entirely. This essay will address the environmental upsides as well as the downsides on individuals and enterprises. In as much as it is good to do anything to ensure your is easier and business successful, I strongly believe that an end to transportation by air will benefit the masses at large and to a great extent.

Less use of aeroplanes equals less noise pollution. Peace is one thing 99% of residents in any given country cherish so much as many people do not function well in noisy environments. Also noise is said to disrupt the cosmic order of nature/environment. For instance, people who live close to airports are prone to unnecessary noise which can be annoying and brings lots of discomfort. If people can stop making use of aircrafts frequently, the of such residents will automatically be restored. They will, as well, perform better than they used to.

Furthermore, the rate of mortality will reduce significantly. Over the years, there's been many reports and cases on plane crash which have taken the lives of thousands of people. While one might think that travelling by air is the fastest means of transportation, it is important to consider that human life is delicate. Also there might be opinions on how flying can enhance business growth financially. However, let us not forget that it is only those who are alive that can access wealth or run a business. Given this, one can deduce the importance of less subscription to travels by air.

In conclusion, some persons have made the choice to reduce the rate at which they fly or to not adopt aeroplanes as a means of travelling at all. It can be deduced, from the above, that less noise pollution and drop in mortality rate are benefits of not making use of aircrafts. It is my honest opinion that the total shut down of flying will benefit every individual in diverse ways in any given point in time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the environmental benefits and the impact on individuals and businesses. However, the development is somewhat superficial. While you mention noise pollution and mortality rates, the discussion regarding the impact on businesses is very limited, focusing only on a brief mention of wealth. The prompt specifically asks to weigh the benefits against the disadvantages for businesses, but this is not explored in sufficient depth. The position is clear, but the arguments lack the necessary complexity and specific examples required for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing and missing words, such as 'the of such residents' in the second paragraph. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the mechanical nature of some transitions and the occasional lack of clarity in referencing (e.g., 'the of such residents') prevents a higher score. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks precision and variety. You use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'travelling by air' and 'making use of aircrafts'. There are also instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'curtail how frequently' and 'less subscription to travels'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is a lack of sophisticated or idiomatic expressions that would demonstrate a higher level of lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including missing words ('the of such residents'), incorrect verb forms ('considered to put an end'), and awkward sentence construction ('ensure your is easier'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, you should focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that all necessary components of a sentence are present. The control over complex structures is inconsistent.
