Student answer (Band 6.0)

A group of people have decided to reduce their number of air travel every year or completely eliminate this. This development has more ecological benefits than drawbacks and this essay discusses this with related examples to support my view.

No doubt, Air travel is the necessasity of modern life and nobody can underestimate its importance. Despite large number of benefits, it pollute the environment as we all know aeroplanes burn the huge amount of fuel while flying. Globally, hundreds of air vechicles are always present in their air routes pollute the environment by releasing harmful gases. In this way, this phenomenon contribute to ozone depletion. If some people decided to avoid excessive air travel and reduce the pollution presure on environment, it will generally benefit the life on earth.

People travel for many reasons that can be business, tourism, and family reunions. In this senario, it is difficult to manage the daily life tasks in multi-national businesses and may result in restricted growth and development as tours and visits are very common in their groups. This kind of business groups are the major contributors of economic stability of any country as they bring the investments from other countries and provide the jobs to local. Restricted in their air travel may result in failure of their survival. So, by this prospective, it is the major drawback of limited or no air traveling.

Goverment should make some policies of air traveling limit and may grant extra limit to a group of eligible people. In this way, Air travel can be reduced without impacting them or risking their economy. But its benefits overweight the drawbacks.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position that the environmental benefits outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, covering both the ecological impact of aviation and the economic consequences for businesses. However, the development is somewhat limited; while the environmental argument is clear, the discussion on business impacts could be more nuanced. The conclusion is brief and slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph provides more detailed examples or deeper analysis to fully explore the implications of the argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In this way', 'Despite', and 'So, by this prospective', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or unnatural. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow, but the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as the use of 'this phenomenon' or 'this development' which could be more explicitly linked to the preceding sentence. Overall, the structure is coherent, but the flow between sentences could be improved with more varied cohesive links.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'ozone depletion', 'economic stability', and 'multi-national businesses'. However, there are several spelling errors ('necessasity', 'vechicles', 'senario', 'Goverment') and some awkward collocations ('pollution presure', 'prospective' used instead of 'perspective'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a wider range of precise, academic vocabulary to move into the higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('this phenomenon contribute') and article usage ('the huge amount', 'the life on earth'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are issues with sentence boundaries and word forms ('Restricted in their air travel' should be 'Restrictions on their air travel'). The majority of sentences contain minor errors, which prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and sentence construction will be key to improvement.
