Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you attempt to address both sides of the argument, the ideas are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence. The position is somewhat clear, but the lack of depth prevents a thorough exploration of the environmental benefits versus the economic disadvantages. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with specific examples and ensure you reach the required length to fully address all parts of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often hindered by unclear referencing and awkward transitions. For example, the phrase 'There disadvantaged was it can detrimental effect' is confusing and disrupts the flow of ideas. While you use some basic cohesive devices, they are often used inaccurately or mechanically. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'on the other hand') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that connects logically to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'people', 'number', and 'fly'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'number of fly' instead of 'number of flights' and 'prodigious impact' used incorrectly in context. The range is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. To improve, try to learn collocations related to environmental and economic topics and avoid repeating the same words throughout the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people decides', 'they thinks') and tense consistency (e.g., 'the economy were growing'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by errors that can impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that your verb tenses are consistent throughout the essay. Practicing the construction of complex sentences will also help improve your range.
