Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the environmental benefits and the disadvantages for individuals and businesses. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument regarding job creation for drivers when people stop flying is logically weak and lacks sufficient explanation or real-world evidence. The position is clear, but the analysis of the 'disadvantages' is underdeveloped, particularly regarding the economic impact on businesses. To improve, you should provide more concrete examples and ensure that the link between your arguments and the prompt is more robust and logical.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'provide on creating jobs' and 'others sector will develop'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would help elevate the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You use some relevant terms like 'greenhouse gas emissions' and 'air transportation', but there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'atmosphere' instead of 'environment' and 'culprit' used incorrectly in context. There are also minor errors in collocation, such as 'provide on creating jobs'. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct collocations and contexts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include 'its one of the major culprit' (subject-verb agreement and pluralisation), 'airlines have to made' (incorrect verb form), and 'less people will need to work airports' (missing preposition). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct verb tense usage will be highly beneficial.
