Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the environmental impact of flying, but the development of ideas is limited and often lacks clarity. While you take a position, the arguments regarding the environmental benefits are somewhat repetitive and rely on unsupported claims, such as the specific example regarding Bangladesh. The discussion of disadvantages for individuals and businesses is underdeveloped, as you only briefly mention the convenience of travel without exploring the economic or social implications in depth. To improve, ensure that each paragraph provides a clear, well-supported argument that directly addresses both sides of the prompt before concluding.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the awkward transition 'this statement has numerous disadvantages than benefits'. Some sentences lack logical flow, making it difficult to follow the progression of your argument. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the connection between sentences within paragraphs needs to be smoother. Using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') and ensuring they are used in the correct context would significantly improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. There are several instances of awkward word choices and non-standard collocations, such as 'lions share challenges', 'fly airports', and 'job person'. Some terms are used incorrectly, such as 'accommodation' when referring to the environmental impact of travel. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning topic-specific collocations and using more precise vocabulary to describe environmental issues and economic impacts. Avoid translating directly from your native language, as this often leads to unnatural phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'this travelling took play', 'flight operation has increases'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple, and attempts at complex structures often result in errors, such as 'which would results with global warming'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of verb tenses, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
