Student answer (Band 6.5)

Some people have decided to reduce the number of times they fly every year or to stop flying altogether . In my prospective , decline in ir travelling have significant advantages for ecological cycle but the resulting drawbacks for individuals and commercial business will be noticeable . We will discuss about them in the upcoming paragraphs.

To commence with , first i would like to discuss the environmental benefits for this outcome . The most highlighted benefit in this case will be carbon dioxide and other harmful gases reduction , because when a flight operates it releases a handful of harmful substances such as nitrogen oxide and contrails cutting flights decreases the emissions, Second benefit would be preservation of ecosystem , when there will be lower flights the natural habitats would be saved and it will further contribute to lower local noise and air pollution .

The second aspect is the disadvantages for the individuals and businesses . When there will be lesser flights this will lead to disruption to trade and tourism , the economies that are dependent on international tourism will suffer financial losses . Secondarily , for individuals fewer flights will lead to less opportunities for cross-cultural travels , visiting family abroad , accessing specialized education and health care. The last one will be the reduced business agility , when no one will visit international global contribution will become more time consuming .

In my prospective , the environmental benefits of this development outweigh the disadvantages because the availability of alternatives like technology have made everything easy in the current era so no need to travel international if not urgent . and second reason can be the existential priority of climate change , as suggested by climate department in London the most harm to nature is caused by flights .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all parts of the prompt by discussing both the environmental benefits and the disadvantages for individuals and businesses. Your position is clear from the introduction and maintained throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you mention carbon emissions and ecosystem preservation, the points regarding the disadvantages, such as 'business agility' and 'cross-cultural travels', are listed rather than fully explored with concrete examples. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is expanded with a specific illustration or a more detailed explanation of the causal link between the reduction in flights and the resulting impact.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'To commence with', 'The second aspect', and 'In my prospective', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'The last one will be the reduced business agility'. Additionally, the use of referencing is occasionally imprecise, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence builds logically upon the previous one would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'existential priority', 'cross-cultural', and 'disruption'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'In my prospective' (should be 'perspective'), 'ir travelling' (air travel), and 'handful of harmful substances' (which is slightly informal or imprecise in this context). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision and sophistication of your expression. To improve, focus on learning the correct collocations for academic topics and proofreading for common spelling or word-form errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that persist throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('decline in ir travelling have'), missing articles ('as suggested by climate department'), and punctuation errors, such as the run-on sentence in the final paragraph. While your meaning is generally clear, these errors are noticeable and occur with enough frequency to prevent a higher score. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
