Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, a growing number of individuals have decided to decrease the number of time they fly and even stop flying altogether. I feel the advantages outweigh the disadvantages for individuals and businesses.
The aviation industry is responsible for a considerable percentage of co2 emission. The airplane fuel burning also releases dangerous gasses which harm the environment in many ways. One flight journey causes harm equivalent to the harm caused by personal vehicle for a whole year or two. Even if a small percentage of frequent flyers stop using this mode of transport then it will be very beneficial. For an example, my friend travels in airplane for the journey of Gwalior to Delhi which only takes 5 hours by road. If he stops using flights for this journey, it would be great.
In the contradictory, the individuals will miss out on many opportunities like education in abroad, job in far away land, cultural expansion etc by completely stopping the use of air as a mode of transport. Businesses generally have board meetings and meetings with clients in other major urban cities and companies see time as money so they prefer to use flights for journeys. The aviation industry provides millions of jobs and reduction in number of people travelling will lead to layoffs of employees.
Nevertheless, I would say that environmental advantages are more crucial and worth the disadvantages. In recent times where the environment is being polluted by many sectors, each sector should be responsible by taking measures to reduce the hazardous impact on environment. Similarly, the aviation industry and people should stress more about the environmental concerns and take actions such as reduce the number of times they fly every year or to stop flying altogether although it affects the economy of the people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that the environmental benefits outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of CO2 emissions and the economic impact on the aviation industry. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The example regarding the friend's journey from Gwalior to Delhi is a bit anecdotal and lacks the depth required for a high-band response. To improve, you should expand on the broader implications of these environmental policies rather than focusing on personal examples, ensuring that the arguments for both sides are balanced and fully explored.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In the contradictory' (though this is an incorrect collocation) and 'Nevertheless'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical. The phrase 'In the contradictory' is not standard English; 'Conversely' or 'On the other hand' would be more appropriate. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the advantages and disadvantages, which helps the reader follow your argument, but the transition between ideas could be smoother to achieve a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'hazardous impact', 'aviation industry', and 'co2 emission'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'In the contradictory' instead of 'Conversely', and 'education in abroad' instead of 'education abroad'. Additionally, 'dangerous gasses' is a bit simplistic; 'harmful greenhouse gases' would be more precise. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that your word choices are contextually accurate and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors. For instance, 'number of time' should be 'number of times', 'airplane fuel burning' is awkward phrasing, and 'harm caused by personal vehicle' is missing an article ('a personal vehicle'). There are also issues with preposition usage, such as 'travels in airplane'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles to improve your accuracy.
