Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the prompt regarding the environmental benefits versus disadvantages of reducing air travel, meeting the minimum word requirement. However, the development of ideas is limited and often unclear, which aligns with Band 5 descriptors. The position is discernible—arguing that reducing flights helps the environment while harming business and the economy—but the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting examples. For instance, points regarding economic impacts and businessmen owning private planes are expressed vaguely ('some businessman are own their own plane'), leading to confusion. Furthermore, sweeping generalizations are made without clear elaboration, preventing the response from reaching a higher band level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into distinct paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing some basic structure. However, the overall progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions, repetitive phrasing, and mechanical use of cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'Consequently', and 'For that reason'. Referencing is often unclear, such as in the sentence 'Because of many things are related to oil which are dwell then its impact on nation', where pronoun referencing and logical links break down. Paragraphing is present, but the internal logical flow within paragraphs is weak, meaning the response sits firmly at Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and occasionally inaccurate, reflecting Band 4 to Band 5 descriptors. The student relies on simple terms and makes frequent word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'stop travel altogether' instead of 'stop travelling', 'reduce many pollution', and 'some nonsense are decrease'. Attempts to use more complex vocabulary often result in unnatural phrasing, such as 'align to nature' or 'ruin for that reason'. These errors create noticeable strain for the reader and impede comprehension in several places, limiting the score to a Band 4.5, which rounds to 4.5 or 5.0. We award 4.5 based on strict adherence to descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting mainly of simple and attempted complex sentences that are heavily flawed. There are persistent, frequent errors in basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, and tense control throughout the text. Examples include 'I believe that It is advantageous', 'People are reduce there uneven travelling', and 'airplane increase air pollution with noise pollution which are decrees marginally'. Punctuation is also problematic, with fragments and run-on structures interrupting the flow. Because errors are frequent, cause considerable difficulty for the reader, and heavily distort meaning in multiple sentences, the grammar score reflects Band 4.0.
