Student answer (Band 5.0)

People are thinking to decrease fly national or international as they are becoming environment concious day by day. Although it would bring individuals or businesses some financial crisis i think the development outweigh the disadvantages.

On the one hand, numerous businesses depend on international tourists activities in almost all country. Every year millions of people travel to another country for various purpose. And thus plane company sell a wide range of tickets for domestic and abroad visits. Morever, hotels, local businesses, tourists spots also earn a handsome amount from abroad tourists as well. Visitors visit important places, try different foods and buy a lot of things from local market whuch will be largely affected if citizens reduce fly. In addition, people have to spend more time on commuting internal places which they used to go by boarding.

On the other hand, if people reduce the number of fly then it will bring environment much peace and pollution free ambience. Emission of carbon di-oxide will be less. If people deny to travel by plane then govt forcefully has to take necessary steps to introduce another way such as high speed train, transport that use less fuel as well. By taking this measure people can make sure lessen pressure on environment.

In conclusion, although there are some drawbacks but if we think about our habitablity then the advantages surely outweigh the disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the environmental benefits and the disadvantages for individuals and businesses, establishing a clear position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Ideas such as the economic impact on tourism and the environmental reduction in carbon emissions are introduced. However, the development of these ideas remains somewhat limited and repetitive. Furthermore, there is a penalty for length, as the student's response contains only 230 words, falling short of the required 250-word minimum. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed due to under-development and word count, aligning well with the Band 5 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text is arranged into four paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting opposing views, and a conclusion. There is some overall organisation, but the logical progression is at times disjointed. Cohesive devices are used, but some are inaccurate, mechanical, or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as 'which they used to go by boarding' in the second paragraph. Paragraphing is present, but overall cohesion is faulty, placing the response firmly in the Band 5 category.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'decrease fly national or international', 'environment concious', 'plane company', 'tourists spots', and 'habitablity'. While the intended meaning can usually be deciphered, these frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and demonstrate a lack of precision. Less common lexical items are attempted but unsuccessfully, restricting the score to a Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and concessive clauses ('Although it would bring...', 'if people reduce the number of fly...'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors including missing articles, incorrect pluralisation ('environment much peace'), and poor verb forms ('if people reduce the number of fly'). Complex structures are frequently faulty. These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader, matching the requirements for Band 5.
