Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the prompt regarding whether the environmental benefits of reducing or stopping flying outweigh disadvantages for individuals and businesses. However, the position is somewhat obscured by abstract language and tangents about general environmental development. While the writer touches on both positive and negative impacts, the arguments lack clear development and focus specifically on the prompt's core question of air travel. Phrases such as 'prevent flying altogether' and 'environmental facilities of reducing their fly times' show that the writer has grasped the topic, but the ideas remain under-developed and occasionally confusing. This falls under the Band 5 descriptors, as the task is addressed only partially and the position is not always clear.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into four paragraphs, following a standard introduction, body, and conclusion structure. However, the overall progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing sentence construction. For example, the sentence beginning with 'Naturally, solving environmental problems in the form of development...' lacks clear logical connection to the preceding paragraph. Cohesive devices are attempted, such as 'Nevertheless' and 'On the other hand', but referencing is often unclear, as seen in pronouns whose antecedents are ambiguous. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion is weak. This aligns with Band 5 performance.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is a mix of basic and attempted higher-level terms, but frequent inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and phrasing significantly impede communication. Expressions such as 'prevent the number of times', 'environmental facilities', 'rilief flying altogether', and 'prevent flying altogether' demonstrate a limited control of lelexis. There are also typographical and spelling errors like 'bussiness', 'benefitis', 'natinal', and 'uderstandable'. Although the writer attempts less common vocabulary, the persistent errors place this text solidly at Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but frequent grammatical errors cause difficulty for the reader throughout the essay. Many sentences are structurally unsound or incomplete, such as 'Since people seek development and fulfillment through the prevent flying altogether it imperative to elevate modern living standards.' There are persistent issues with subject-verb agreement, preposition use, and word forms. While there is an attempt at complex clauses, the high frequency of errors means that error-free sentences are scarce. This matches the Band 5 descriptors.
