Student answer (Band 5.0)
In recent years, tourism has become the backbone of many nations. This is due to the fact that many people love to explore diverse cultures and want to try different kinds of food in the world. many people have decided to lessen the amount of times they visit another country. I believe it is positive development because it has many ecological advantageous that are far more significant than the detrimentals for individulas and eonomy of the country.
On the one hand, tourism brings many benefits for the country. Firstly, it helps to increase the economy of the nations and aid to many companies to stable financially. For instance, many people in the world have a hobby to tour different places on the earth. So they booked flights that are expensive. Furthermore, when they visit another state, they reserved expensive hotels and resturants and do shopping. Consequently, it results in increase the economy of the country. Secondly, it helps to overcome the pressure on the government and they expand money on the needs of the nation such as build new roads and hospitals.
On the other hand, tourism has some disadvantageous for envioronment. Firstly, when many people from another country visit another nation it cause pollution, traffic congestion on the road. Foreigners did not care about the cleaniness of the country. They though plastics and other garbage on the roads that damage ecosystem and cause many health risks.
In conclusion, although tourism has some advantageous but I believe that its benefits for the environment are more significant.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the prompt regarding whether the environmental benefits of reducing air travel outweigh the disadvantages for individuals and businesses. However, the student's argument conflates general tourism with air travel specifically, which limits the precision of the task response. The position is stated in the introduction, but the ideas remain relatively simple and under-developed. For example, the body paragraphs discuss tourism benefits and general environmental drawbacks, such as 'pollution and traffic congestion on the road,' rather than directly focusing on the consequences of cutting back on flying. Consequently, the development tends to be generalised and repetitive. This corresponds to a Band 5 performance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text is organised into paragraphs, featuring a basic introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Transitional markers such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclusion' are used to structure the response. However, the overall progression is somewhat hampered by repetitive phrasing and abrupt shifts. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is frequently mechanical or faulty, such as referencing errors ('Foreigners did not care... They though plastics'). While an overall sense of organisation is present, the logical connection between sentences often lacks smooth flow, aligning closely with Band 5 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate for discussing this topic. The student attempts some less common items such as 'backbone,' 'diverse cultures,' and 'ecological advantageous,' but these attempts are frequently marred by word-formation and collocation errors (e.g., 'advantageous' instead of 'advantages,' 'detrimentals' instead of 'detriments,' 'economy of the country' instead of 'economic growth'). Spelling errors also occur, such as 'resturants,' 'cleaniness,' and 'though' instead of 'throw.' Although meaning is generally conveyed, the frequency of lexical inaccuracies restricts the score to Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but attempts at complex forms often contain noticeable errors. Examples of grammatical inaccuracies include 'lessen the amount of times' (instead of 'number of times'), 'it is positive development' (missing article), 'aid to many companies to stable financially,' and tense inconsistencies ('Foreigners did not care... They though'). Punctuation is basic, and frequent grammatical errors cause occasional strain for the reader, though communication is generally maintained. This profile fits the Band 5 descriptors well.
