Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, people are going to save environment by stop theirselves to taking flights and they are trying to keep the environment pollution free. For short distance, there is no need of flights they should need to move on cars. But for long distance flights is too important for business and for families. In my opinion, for short distance there is no need of flights.
There are many benefits in reducing the number of flights because when flight takes off it effects the environment by air pollution.Planes exhaust gives out the harmful chemical air. which directly effects on the environment. There is a issue which we are facing nowdays worldwide is global warming.Smaller number of flights is better for global warming. In situation of less planes,Government will make more trains in country which helps to maintain clean, health and affordable for people.
In whole universe tourism depends on flights if flights get stopped it will effect the business like hotels, travel agencies, and air lines. It effects the people and their jobs who worked in hotels, air lines, and travel agencies.Travelling on busses and trains takes a lot of time and in every field of life time is too much important for every one. The people who live far from there family they will not meet there family soon because busses and trains takes alot of time than flights.
In conclusion, flights are important for every one but we also need to take care of our environment. We need to make a easy way for less distance we need to travel on trains. But for international travel,Planes are important so we need to travel on them while government need to make planes which doesn't effect environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the environmental benefits and the disadvantages for individuals and businesses. The position is generally clear, stating that short-distance flights should be reduced while long-distance flights remain necessary. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on global warming and business impacts is surface-level, and the point about cars versus trains for short distances creates minor confusion about the proposed alternative. While the main arguments are relevant and supported by general examples like hotels and travel agencies, further extension and elaboration would be required to reach a higher band. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, fulfilling the requirements for a Band 5.5 to 6.0 level of response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into four paragraphs, showing a basic structural layout with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is at times impeded by weak cohesive devices and repetitive phrasing. For example, sentences within the second and third body paragraphs often start abruptly without smooth transitional phrases, such as 'In whole universe tourism depends on flights...' and 'It effects the people...'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, with pronouns like 'it' and 'they' having ambiguous antecedents. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion is mechanical and repetitive, which aligns closely with the Band 5 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, frequently reusing terms such as 'environment', 'flights', 'business', and 'important'. There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'stop theirselves to taking flights' instead of 'stop taking flights', 'air pollution' where 'air emissions' might be more appropriate, and 'In whole universe' instead of 'Globally'. While the lexical range is minimally adequate to convey the basic message of the prompt, these frequent inaccuracies and limited vocabulary choices place the response firmly at Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Planes exhaust gives out', 'busses and trains takes'), incorrect prepositions ('effects on the environment'), and punctuation errors such as missing spaces after commas and periods. Complex structures are often faulty, leading to sentences that require effort from the reader to parse, such as 'In situation of less planes,Government will make more trains in country which helps to maintain clean, health and affordable for people.' These frequent errors place the grammatical performance at Band 5.0.
