Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement, cutting off mid-sentence with only 179 words produced. Because the text stops abruptly at the start of the second body paragraph, the central question regarding whether environmental benefits outweigh disadvantages is only partially addressed. The introduction outlines a clear position that advantages outweigh disadvantages, and initial ideas concerning pollution and travel motivations are introduced. However, due to the premature ending, these ideas are severely under-developed, and the disadvantages for individuals and businesses are never explored. This incomplete development heavily restricts the band score under official criteria.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays some organizational structure, including an introductory paragraph with a clear stance and distinct paragraph breaks. However, overall progression is heavily disrupted because the text ends abruptly in the middle of a sentence in the second body paragraph. Cohesive devices are used at a basic level, such as 'In recent years', 'In contemporary society', and 'On the other hand', but referencing and logical flow are compromised by the incomplete arguments and the truncation of the response. Paragraphing is attempted, but the undeveloped nature of the writing prevents full realization of coherent paragraph structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for basic communication, utilizing words such as 'contemporary society', 'convenient', and 'global warming'. However, there are notable lexical errors and awkward collocations throughout the text, including 'reduce their number of flying', 'people loves to travel', and 'reduce their time of travelling'. Spelling is generally acceptable, but word choices are sometimes imprecise or unnatural. The vocabulary allows the writer to express basic thoughts, but frequent inaccuracies in word choice and collocation prevent the achievement of a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The text contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as the dependent clause in 'Because it is very convenient and reduce their time of travelling.' However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors such as subject-verb agreement issues ('people loves', 'Travelling help'), incorrect verb forms ('have choose', 'reduce' instead of 'reduces'), and capitalization mistakes ('i'). Furthermore, the sentence starting with 'Because' is a fragment. While communication is not entirely obscured in the readable portions, the frequent errors and the fact that the writing cuts off abruptly severely limit the grammatical score.
