Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, most of the people have started flying less or have stopped flying because of climate change. This increases difficulties for individuals and businesses, but I believe the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages.
Aviation is one of the main sources of carbon dioxide emissions in the air, and this carbon dioxide pollutes the air, threatening ecosystems and also playing a major part in the danger for future generations. Each flight plays a major part in the contribution of carbon dioxide; when people decide not to travel by air, it may cause delays and inconvenience for individuals but is safe overall.
In addition, it can also cause trouble for families who live far from their beloveds. Many of us live away from our families for jobs or for educational purposes and only get some occasions to meet and celebrate some days with them, moreover campanies depend on aviation also face backlash as the number of people choosing flights.
However, we can solve business-related issues through technological advancements; for instance, people can conduct meetings through video conferences to gain the trust of partners. Choosing trains and buses for short distances is also a healthy habit to save the environment; these small changes will slowly change the climate and clean the air.
In the end, there is no doubt that this will cause inconvenience for individuals and businesses, but their environmental benefits will lead a healthy ecosystem that will last a long time. These efforts will save our planet from bigger dangers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the environmental benefits and the disadvantages for individuals and businesses. A clear position is established in the introduction and maintained throughout the essay. Main ideas are presented, such as carbon emissions and family separation, but some points remain slightly under-developed or general. For instance, the discussion on companies facing backlash could be elaborated with more specific examples. Overall, the response meets the requirements for a Band 6.0 as it covers the prompt adequately, though further extension and depth would be needed for a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'In addition', 'However', and 'In the end', though their use can occasionally feel mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, but some transitional phrases within paragraphs create slight disruptions in the logical flow, particularly in the third paragraph where multiple ideas are linked with 'moreover'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points of the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating topic-specific terms like 'carbon dioxide emissions', 'ecosystems', 'technological advancements', and 'video conferences'. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, alongside occasional word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'only get some occasions to meet' instead of 'rarely get the chance to meet' and 'companies depend on aviation also face backlash' which contains a grammatical and lexical awkwardness. However, these lexical slips do not impede communication, placing the response solidly in the Band 6.0 range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, using structures like conditional clauses ('when people decide not to travel...') and relative clauses ('who live far from their beloveds'). There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings present, such as 'most of the people have started', 'campanies depend on aviation also face backlash', and 'will lead a healthy ecosystem' (missing preposition). Despite these errors, they rarely impede communication, and the meaning remains clear throughout, justifying a Band 6.0 score.
