Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, many people are those who have decided to reduce the number of times they fly year or they stopped to flying together. In this case, some people believe that the enviromental benefits of this devolpment outweigh the disadvantages for individuals and businesses. As far as my opinion is concerened, I am also believe that its benefits are more greater than its disadvantages. Now, i will explain the reasons for my opinion.

At first, the main advantage of reducing the air fly is the decrease in air pollution. Because we know that the aeroplanes and other types of private jets consume a large amount of fuel. So, it means that they will emit a large amount of carbon emission. As a result, due to this carbon emission, the amount of oxygen decreases which is not good for all the living organisms. Some toxins are also released from the aeroplanes engine, which results in different diseases and air pollution.

Anothe rmain advantage of flight reduction is fuel savings. beacuse as you know an aeroplane consumes a lot of fuel so if we reduce to take flights than definately, the number of flightss a;lso reduces. which results in more fuel savings.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the environmental benefits and disadvantages of reducing air travel, taking a clear stance that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. However, the task achievement is significantly hindered by the length requirement, as the essay falls short of the 250-word minimum, containing only 228 words. Furthermore, the final paragraph is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence, which leaves ideas under-developed and prevents a fully realised conclusion. While the main body points attempt to present arguments regarding pollution and fuel savings, the lack of full development and the unfinished ending pull this criterion down to a Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some basic organisational structure with an introduction and separate body paragraphs addressing advantages and disadvantages. However, overall progression is disrupted by mechanical and repetitive transitional phrases such as 'At first' and 'Anothe rmain advantage'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph breaks down completely due to the incomplete sentence. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and cohesive devices are inadequate to smoothly link ideas. Due to these organisational faults and the abrupt ending, the essay fits the Band 5.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, featuring frequent reliance on simple terms like 'things', 'people', and 'advantage'. There are notable spelling and word-choice errors, including 'enviromental', 'devolpment', 'concerened', and 'air fly'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'consume', 'toxins', and 'decrement', but these are often used inaccurately or inappropriately in context. Overall, the lexical range is minimally adequate for the task, but errors in word formation and spelling are noticeable and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, aligning closely with a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'many people are those who have decided', 'stopped to flying together', 'I am also believe', and 'reduce to take flights'. Punctuation and spacing errors are also prevalent, as seen in 'carbon emission. As a result', 'Anothe rmain', and 'flightss a;lso'. Furthermore, the grammar breaks down entirely in the final incomplete sentence ('don t ha'). These frequent errors and the limited successful control of complex structures place the grammar at a Band 5.0.
