Student answer (Band 5.0)

Transportation is the major issue these days. Some people have decided to reduce the number of times they fly to stop flying altogether. I do agree with this statement because travelling is important for business and indviduals who are living in abroad.

Some people have decided to reduce the number of times they fly every year. It not only costs high fuel consumption but also causes more enviornmental pollution in air which causes serious health issues sometimes breathing difficulty and skin problems. On the other hand other beleive that they should travel that they should stop flying altogether. I do not agree with this statement because people should have to travel at any cost because of some emergencies, health issues and business puposes. so i think that it is not possible to travel.

Additionally, enviornemntal benefits of this development overweigh the disadvantages for indviduals and businesses yes i do agree but they do follow other options. For instance if someone wants to decide to reduce travelling they fly every year they should find another routes for their business meetings like any online source. This can be beneficial our enviornment. But this step has adverse affects on economy of any country if people stop travelling abroad.

I think they should travel in group so that little flights take off would be possible or people should only travel in emergency cases, less fuel usage and more enviornemtal friendly. Enviornemtal protection agencies should also restricts airport authorties to use less flights at different time intervals so all could be benefited.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt only partially. You state your position in the introduction by mentioning that you agree travelling is important, but the overall development of your ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, in the second paragraph, you touch upon fuel consumption and health issues, but these points are not sufficiently extended or supported with specific explanations. Furthermore, your stance shifts slightly throughout the essay, making your position not always clear. To move to a higher level, you need to ensure that all parts of the prompt are fully explored, presenting well-supported arguments with clear examples rather than moving quickly between disparate points like online meetings and group travel.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some organisation evident in your division of paragraphs, but the response lacks a clear overall progression. Ideas tend to jump between different concepts without smooth transitions, such as moving abruptly from environmental pollution to emergency travel in the second paragraph. Cohesive devices are sometimes inadequate, inaccurate, or overused, with basic connectors like 'Additionally' and 'On the other hand' feeling somewhat mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in phrases like 'they should follow other options'. To improve cohesion, you should work on building clearer logical links between sentences and paragraphs, ensuring that every idea flows naturally into the next to guide the reader through your arguments effortlessly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. You attempt some less common topics-related vocabulary such as 'fuel consumption', 'environmental pollution', and 'emergency cases', but there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word formation that cause some difficulty for the reader. For example, 'indviduals' is misspelled, 'living in abroad' contains an unnecessary preposition, and 'overweigh' is misused instead of 'outweigh'. Additionally, 'enviornemntal' is repeatedly misspelled. To achieve a higher score, you need to expand your lexical repertoire, use less common vocabulary with greater precision regarding collocation and style, and carefully proofread your work to eliminate basic spelling and word-choice errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple or repetitive sentence patterns. When you attempt complex sentences, they are often faulty or awkward, such as in the sentence 'people should have to travel at any cost because of some emergencies... so i think that it is not possible to travel.' There are frequent errors in articles, prepositions, and punctuation—such as lowercase 'so i think' and missing commas—along with awkward verb patterns like 'wants to decide to reduce travelling they fly every year'. These frequent errors can cause difficulty and strain for the reader. To improve, you need to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence forms while maintaining strict control over basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation.
