Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, many individuals decided to reduce their air travel or stop fly together due to concerns about environment damage. While this development may create certain difficulties for individuals and businesses to run their operation with less revenue. I strongly believe that environment benefits clearly outweight the disadvantages in this case.
The one significant advantage for this development is less air pollution, For example, when people prefer to take less flights for any cause for the environment betterment this may directly help the air quality of the country which improves and be more clean. However the second important benefit is there will be low chances of Global Warming that means the climate change will be more save and serious weather conditions will not be harsh in any season. Futhermore, the imporant benifit is for nature life improves which will be more benificial for animals, forest, birds and for human being as well. While the last advantage is for human health due to the fresh air people will remain more healthy and active the chances of health diseases decreased.
In contrast, there are some disadvantages to consider. The biggest concern is for businesses they faced losses if demand of flights decresed. For example if previously they are making 60% profile now their profit will half to 30% that result in huge losses by the business. However, the second most disadvantage of this development is their will be decline in tourism sector, where people will not travel to other countries to save the environment from damage that result economic crises for the country.
But i believe that these disdavantages are not more than valuable than environment damage because environment issues may caused serious thread for all the world.
In conclusion, many indviduals decided to reduced their travel that befits less airpollution, reduced global warming, nature life improves etc.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the environmental benefits and the disadvantages of reducing air travel, and a clear personal position is presented in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is uneven. While the advantages are listed extensively, such as reduced air pollution, lower global warming, and benefits to nature and human health, these points remain somewhat under-developed and repetitive. For example, the mention that 'nature life improves' lacks specific examples or expansion. Similarly, the counter-arguments regarding business losses and tourism decline are introduced but supported by simplistic reasoning rather than fully extended discussion. To reach a higher level, the ideas need to be more thoroughly explained with specific, well-reasoned supporting details and a more balanced exploration of both sides.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the argument into an introduction, body paragraphs addressing advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised to separate distinct themes, moving from environmental benefits to economic drawbacks. However, cohesion is at times mechanical and faulty. The writer relies heavily on basic transitional markers like 'However', 'Futhermore', and 'In contrast', and some referencing lacks clarity, such as 'The one significant advantage for this development'. Additionally, sentence-to-sentence flow is occasionally disrupted by abrupt transitions between ideas, particularly in the second body paragraph where multiple distinct advantages are squeezed into a single long sentence without adequate cohesive ties. To improve, the writer should employ a wider and more natural range of cohesive devices and ensure smoother progression of ideas between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating central ideas about the environment, business losses, and tourism. There are noticeable attempts to use less common items and topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'operation', 'revenue', 'Global Warming', and 'economic crises'. However, the vocabulary range remains limited, and there are frequent inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word formation. Examples include 'environment damage' instead of 'environmental damage', 'take less flights' instead of 'take fewer flights', 'profile' instead of 'profit', and 'disdavantages'. Spelling and word-form errors, such as 'benificial' and 'indviduals', are also present. These lexical slips and inaccuracies show a restricted control of less common vocabulary, meaning the language is minimally adequate rather than precise or sophisticated.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and subordinate clauses, as seen in 'when people prefer to take less flights for any cause... this may directly help...'. However, attempts at complex structures are frequently flawed, and there are persistent errors in grammar and punctuation. Issues include tense inconsistency ('many individuals decided' instead of 'have decided'), missing articles ('for businesses they faced losses'), awkward prepositions, and run-on sentences with incorrect punctuation, such as comma splices ('people will remain more healthy and active the chances of health diseases decreased'). While communication is generally maintained despite these errors, the frequent inaccuracies in basic and complex structures place the grammatical control firmly at this level, requiring greater precision and a wider range of error-free sentences.
