Student answer (Band 5.0)
A segment of society has decided to slump their visits through planes every year or to stop flying altogether.
Overall, there are a great deal of environmental benefits of this development but there are also numerous disadvantages for individuals and businesses.
Certain individuals in our society has decided to overcome their traveling through planes. This will reduce the consumption of fuel used in planes and also benefits to enviroment. This will reduce the toxic chemicals in atmosphere which cause countless diseases. This will also help in controling of the greenhouse effect. These types of decision make environment sustainable.
According to current conditions in which there is stortage of fuel cause by wars between different countries effects the routes, timing and fuel cost of planes. This has already reduced the air routes but also caused surges in individuals and businesses. Another key factor is that it also drop the business of people which do business related to planes. People who travel to different countries as their business face disadvantage as they were dependent on it. Furthermore reduction of flights also rise the problems to poor countries which are dependant on tourist. Most of tourist use planes to travel to many places which save their time and help them enjoy.
In many countries, there are now few members of society which were able to afford to travel through planes. Tourist have majority in it. If they took other means to travel, they effect their normal routine and also to the local people those who were hand to mouth.
Weighting up both sides, I think the travel thorugh the plane is no dought expansive and also pollute the environment. But it also outweigh the disadvantages for individuals and businesses.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the environmental benefits and disadvantages of reducing air travel, meeting the basic criteria for this level. However, the position is not always clear, particularly in the conclusion where the phrasing 'outweigh the disadvantages' is contradicted by earlier statements. Ideas are limited and somewhat under-developed, with brief assertions about fuel consumption and tourism rather than fully expanded arguments. For instance, the point that 'reduction of flights also rise the problems to poor countries which are dependant on tourist' is introduced but lacks specific, well-supported examples to flesh out the consequence. To move towards a higher band, the writer needs to clearly establish a distinct position from the introduction and extend each main idea with more detailed explanations and relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation in the essay, with distinct paragraphs attempting to separate environmental benefits from business disadvantages. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and the logical links between sentences can be disjointed. Cohesive devices are sometimes inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on 'This will' or 'This has already' to begin successive sentences. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal paragraph cohesion needs strengthening so that ideas flow more naturally from one to the next. To achieve higher bands, the writer must use a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices and ensure that each paragraph has a clear central topic sentence followed by logically progressive supporting points.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for discussing the topic. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations that cause some difficulty for the reader, such as 'slump their visits through planes', 'stortage of fuel', and 'drop the business'. Word choice is frequently imprecise, and word formation issues are evident, such as using 'expansaive' or incorrect derivations. While the writer attempts to use topic-related vocabulary like 'greenhouse effect' and 'sustainable', inaccuracies in form and collocation restrict the range. To progress, the writer should focus on expanding their vocabulary range, learning correct word partnerships, and paying closer attention to exact word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few faulty attempts at complex forms. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'Certain individuals... has decided', incorrect prepositions such as 'travel thorugh the plane', and problems with article usage and pluralisation. These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader in tracking the exact meaning. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to practice constructing accurate complex sentences using subordinate clauses and carefully check basic agreement, verb forms, and punctuation.
