Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years ,a growing number of individuals have chosen to minimize their air travels annually or eschew flying due to environmental concerns .I strongly believe that environmental advantages are greater then drawbacks for businesses and people.
On the one hand, the environmental benefits of flying less are enormous. Airplanes are one of the biggest source of carbon emission and air pollution which cause global warming. By reducing flights we can significantly decrease the amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere. For instance ,a single flight from Pakistan to UK produces more carbon then a person driving a car for the whole year .If large number of people chooses to travel by bus or train for their trips, it would help in climate change and improve air quality for everyone.
On the other hand, there are some drawbacks to reducing air travel. For example, it means less freedom to travel quickly to distant places and miss opportunities to meet family or loved ones which are in abroad and miss enjoying international holidays. Furthermore, for businesses ,especially tourism and airlines fewer flights means less profit. Many companies depend on international clients and quick face to face meeting which are difficult without flying. In Sialkot, for instance, many export businesses depend on flights to meet buyers in Europe .
However, these disadvantages can be managed by different ways like businesses can use video conferencing like Zoom instead of travelling and people can plan fewer but more meaningful trips.
In conclusion, although reducing flights causes some challenges for businesses and individuals but from my perspective positive impact on the environment is more important. Therefore, this development should be encouraged with the support of government.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you believe the environmental advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and the conclusion reinforces this view. You address both sides with relevant points, including reduced emissions, effects on family travel, and impacts on airlines and export businesses. The Pakistan–UK flight comparison and Sialkot example help make the discussion specific. This meets the task well, but some ideas are more fully explained than others. For example, the environmental case is supported by a causal explanation, while the effects on individuals are mostly listed rather than explored. To strengthen the response further, explain more precisely how the benefits compare with the costs, and develop the examples with clearer detail rather than relying on broad claims.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and disadvantages, a response to the drawbacks, and a conclusion. The progression from environmental gains to personal and business costs is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “However” make the relationships between points clear. This is a coherent arrangement, though some linking is mechanical and a few connections could be more precise. For instance, “it would help in climate change” does not clearly express the intended relationship, and the list of personal disadvantages is joined together without showing how the points relate. Use more varied transitions and clearer referencing to make the flow smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “environmental concerns,” “carbon emission,” “international clients,” and “video conferencing.” There are also attempts at less common or formal wording, such as “eschew” and “drawbacks,” showing some range. However, several choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “air travels,” “help in climate change,” and “quick face to face meeting.” Some spelling and word-form errors also appear, such as “then” where “than” is intended and “source” where a plural form is needed. These do not prevent understanding, but more precise collocations and careful proofreading would improve control and make the argument sound more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “If large number of people chooses… it would help…” and a concession in the conclusion. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “Airplanes are one of the biggest source,” article and number errors in “If large number of people,” and the awkward construction “it means less freedom … and miss opportunities.” There are also punctuation and spacing problems, particularly around commas and full stops. Work on agreement, articles, and parallel sentence structure, and proofread punctuation. More consistently accurate complex sentences would demonstrate stronger control.
