Student answer (Band 5.5)

Most of the people have to travel on and off for their business or personal trips by plane. They tend to take flights oftenly because it saves their time and travel hassel including a safe travel with less time consumption. But now a days most of the people have decided to reduce their travel by planes to make the environment more better and fresh which helps to improve the overall nature.

By doing the less travel it will help alot in the favour of environment but will not be good for the businesses. As the fuel consumed by the aeroplane the smoke it ejects through the engine during the flight in the sky, it pollutes the environment which outbreak the new dieseas mostly related to lungs resulted in more patients with oxygen and respiratory problems. Whereas it will effect the airlines business alot in terms of their revenue and sales.

This initiative will not work in the favour of airlines as a result of this less tickets will be sell , few passengers will travel which in return not be good for both the company or the individuals working with them. Less profits will lead to lower salaries or may be the reason of employees downsizing and unemployement.

In last year, due to less revenue world renowned airline compnay released its staff because of the loss it faced and it impacted the lower earners as they suffered alot to find another job or to feed their family.

Aeroplanes must be design in such a way that it does not destroy the environment so people should not lessen their travels and can easily travel without hesitating. Technical companies should take lead on this by manufactuaring such designs which helps both the parties the passengers and the airlines so no one business get affected and things run smoothly. As travelling is essential need of everyone's live as well as the jobs of the employess engaged to such businesses.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both the environmental benefits and the disadvantages for airlines, workers and travellers, and your position is that reducing flights is harmful unless technology offers a solution. The pollution and employment examples are relevant, particularly the point about staff losing jobs when an airline faces lower revenue. However, the environmental benefits are only briefly explained, and the discussion focuses mainly on pollution and health without weighing these gains against the economic costs. The claim that fewer flights will lead to job losses is repeated rather than developed with a clear example or explanation of scale. To strengthen the response, compare the relative importance of the environmental gains and individual or business disadvantages, and make your final judgement explicit and consistent.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, discussion of environmental effects, paragraphs on business and employment, and a concluding recommendation. This gives the reader a basic route through your ideas. However, progression is uneven: the second paragraph moves from pollution to airline revenue, while the next two paragraphs repeat the employment and profit consequences. Connections between points are sometimes unclear, as in “By doing the less travel” followed by a contrast about businesses. Use each paragraph for one main purpose, and link the environmental discussion directly to the disadvantages when weighing them. Clearer topic sentences and more precise referencing would reduce repetition and make the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “fuel consumed,” “pollutes the environment,” “revenue,” “profits,” and “unemployement,” which helps communicate the main ideas. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “travel hassel,” “oftenly,” “make the environment more better,” and “released its staff.” Spelling errors, including “dieseas,” “compnay,” and “manufactuaring,” are also noticeable and reduce precision. Aim to use accurate phrases for environmental impact and employment, and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated general terms such as “good” and “less” with more specific vocabulary would make the discussion clearer and more effective.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the main message is generally understandable. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction. For example, “less tickets will be sell” should use a correctly formed passive, while “Aeroplanes must be design” also has an incorrect verb form. In “As the fuel consumed by the aeroplane the smoke it ejects…,” the clause structure is incomplete and difficult to follow. There are also run-on sentences and missing spaces after full stops. Practise building complete sentences with one clear main clause, then check subject–verb agreement, verb forms and punctuation.
