Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays people love to travel by flight, however some individuals are decided that they decreased the number of time in coming net year. alternative they decided that can be stop flying. I believe that the environmental benefits of reducing air travel outweigh he disadvantages for individuals and businesses.

Firstly, if people used limited number of flight that can be beneficial for environment. Reducing air travel can decrease air pollution and improve air quality. secondly, fewer flight can reduce carbon emissions because aeroplanes burn large amounts of fuel, while this can help slow down global warming and protect the environment. For example it may also help protect wildlife and natural ecosystems from the harmful effects of climate change.

On the other hand, many individuals can be face trouble if number of flight will be decreased in future. Reducing air travel may make it difficult for people to visit their family members who live abroad. In addition, business people may find it difficult to attend international meeting and build relationships with foreign clients. As a result, fewer tourist may visit some countries, reducing the income of hotels and travel agencies that can be affect on countries economy's.

In conclusion, although reducing air travel may cause some problems, i personally believe that environment benefits outweigh the disadvantages because it can reduce carbon emission, slow down global warming, and protect the environment therefore, people should consider using alternative means of transport whenever possible to protect the environment, that can be better for future generations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you believe the environmental benefits outweigh the disadvantages. You address both sides with relevant points, including reduced emissions and pollution, family visits, international business meetings, and tourism income. This covers the task well, and the environmental explanation includes a useful link to global warming and ecosystems. However, some points are asserted rather than fully developed. For instance, the effects on businesses and national economies are mentioned briefly, without explaining how alternatives such as online meetings might reduce the disadvantage. The conclusion repeats the main reasons but does not add much synthesis. To strengthen the response further, extend each key point with a specific example or explanation and make the comparison between environmental gains and practical costs more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting reduced flying, a paragraph presenting disadvantages, and a conclusion. The progression from environmental benefits to personal and business costs is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help orient the reader. This is a coherent arrangement, though some linking is mechanical and a few connections are unclear. For example, “while this can help slow down global warming” does not clearly connect the two clauses, and the final sentence joins several ideas without clear punctuation. Use a wider range of natural links and ensure each sentence’s relationship to the previous one is explicit. Clearer sentence boundaries would also improve the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “carbon emissions,” “air quality,” “global warming,” “international meeting,” and “natural ecosystems,” which allows you to discuss the issue appropriately. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “build relationships with foreign clients.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and word-form errors make parts sound unnatural: “number of time,” “fewer flight,” “tourist,” and “affect on countries economy's.” Some key terms, especially “environment” and “reduce,” are repeated. Aim to learn common collocations and check singular/plural forms and possessives. More precise alternatives for “trouble” and “problems” would also help express the disadvantages more clearly and flexibly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional phrasing (“if people used…”) and clauses introduced by “because” and “although.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but control is uneven, and errors occur in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “some individuals are decided that they decreased,” “that can be face trouble,” and “fewer tourist may visit.” The final sentence also runs several clauses together, making its structure difficult to follow. Practise building accurate sentences with modal verbs and consistent verb patterns, such as “may face difficulties” and “fewer tourists may visit.” Use full stops or semicolons to separate complete ideas, and check agreement and article use during revision.
