Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the contemporary world, many individuals decided to cut the number of time they fly annually to protect the environment. While this decisions brings some drawbacks for the companies. In my opinion, the long term environment benefits are far more important.
On the one hand, reducing air travel creates several issues for people and businesses. For individuals, vising family members who live in different countries becomes extremely hard and time consuming instead of a few hours on a plane, they have to travelling more days by trains or buses. For businesses, international meeting should be disturbed and travel industry suffer from losses. For example, a person who want to go foreign for an important meeting instantly, faces a lot of difficulties to travel by a train or ship.
On the other hand, the environmental benefits of this trend plays a vital role to save the atmosphere. Airplanes released a harmful gas in the environment while flying in the sky, cause several health issues and impact on global warming. By reducing the number of flights, we can easily control air pollution in the atmosphere and protect ozone layer. Furthermore, businesses can now use modern technology systems like video call facilities to connect people globally without travelling. For instance, job calls and interviews are held through the online applications such as Zoom, Whatsapp are the significant application to connect globally.
In conclusion, although stopping or limiting air travel definitely impact on economic conditions and travel difficulties. However, saving the environment by global warming is bigger necessity. For this reason the advantages of protecting environment benefits outweighs the disadvantage for individuals and businesses.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you believe the environmental benefits outweigh the disadvantages, and you address effects on both individuals and businesses. The two-sided structure is relevant, with examples such as difficulty reaching family abroad and using video calls for work. This meets the task well overall, but some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, you mention that international meetings may be disrupted and the travel industry may lose income, but do not explore how serious these effects are or whether alternatives can reduce them. The environmental case also needs more precise support: explain how fewer flights reduce emissions and why this benefit is more significant in the long term. Developing these comparisons would make the argument more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall progression: an introduction states your view, the body paragraphs contrast disadvantages with environmental benefits, and the conclusion restates your position. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow this structure. However, some connections within sentences and between ideas are not fully controlled. For example, the sentence beginning “For individuals, vising family members…” runs into the contrast about travelling by train without clear punctuation, while the business example is introduced abruptly. The conclusion’s “although… However” construction also makes the relationship between the ideas less smooth. Use clearer sentence boundaries and link each example explicitly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “air travel,” “global warming,” “international meeting,” and “video call facilities,” so the main ideas are understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “environmental benefits” and “economic conditions.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which limits precision. Phrases such as “protect the atmosphere,” “harmful gas,” and “saving the environment by global warming” do not express the intended meaning naturally; “reduce greenhouse-gas emissions” and “mitigate climate change” would be clearer. Some word forms and spellings are also incorrect, including “vising” and “disturbed.” Build a more accurate range of topic-specific expressions and check that each phrase fits its context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex structures, including a contrast clause beginning “While” and a conditional-style explanation beginning “By reducing the number of flights.” The overall meaning can usually be followed, but grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make sentences difficult to process. Examples include “this decisions brings,” “businesses… suffer,” and “a person who want,” where subject–verb agreement is faulty. Verb forms are also problematic in “they have to travelling,” and the opening “While this decisions brings…” is left as a sentence fragment. Punctuation and sentence boundaries need attention, particularly where two ideas are joined without a full stop. Practise accurate agreement and verb patterns, then proofread each sentence for a complete main clause.
