Student answer (Band 5.5)

Flying around the world for different purposes such as business, education and other is very crucial for thr progress of the country. Numerous of the individuals have decided to minimise the number of times they fly every year. There are various pros and corns for this statement.

To commence, I want to highlight the advantages of this statement. First of all, there are lots of environmental benefits because these auto-mobiles are polluting environment. The wastes discharged by these things results in the ozone depletion. The depletion of ozone cause the infra-red radiations from sun to reach on the earth. It can cause skin cancers and climate may change. Additionally, lot of the metal is used in making of the aeroplanes. Therefore, this metal can be used in making other products which are very suitable for the individuals. Furthermore, the birds in the air are the most effected organisms. So, if these measures are made this will be very beneficial for them.

Now, I talk about the disadvanteges of this statement. Firstly, aeroplanes helps us to travel from one place to another within on time. Much of the time will be consumed in this way. Secondaly, if the individuals do so it results in the loss in their businesses. Emport and export will show a rapid decline. Food shortage would be increased and our survival become difficult.

To put it in a nutshell, I want to say that it will be a positive development because by doing this we are saving our own lives as well as the lives of the organisms that fly in the air. By doing this our survival become difficult not impossible.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the question and give a clear overall view in the conclusion: reducing flights is positive because it protects people and wildlife. The environmental points about pollution and effects on birds are relevant, and you also mention travel time and possible harm to trade. However, the response only partly develops the comparison asked for: it does not clearly explain whether the benefits outweigh the disadvantages, and the business effects are asserted rather than supported with an example or explanation. Some claims, such as ozone depletion and the use of aircraft metal for other products, are not clearly connected to reduced flying. To strengthen the response, explain the scale of each impact and directly weigh environmental gains against individual and business costs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a concluding position. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Additionally,” and “Firstly” help signal the order of points. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the links between ideas are not always clear. For example, the point about metal used to make aeroplanes does not flow naturally from pollution, while “Food shortage would be increased” is introduced without explaining how reduced flights would cause it. The conclusion also repeats the idea of saving lives and then shifts to survival becoming difficult. Use clearer cause-and-effect links and develop each paragraph around a connected main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “ozone depletion,” “infra-red radiations,” “import and export,” and “climate.” This gives the response enough language to communicate its main points. However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors make some statements awkward or unclear, such as “pros and corns,” “auto-mobiles,” and “the most effected organisms.” Some phrases are also imprecise, including “within on time” and “other products which are very suitable.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than adding technical terms that are not clearly used. Proofread spelling and choose precise expressions for the environmental and economic effects you want to describe.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including cause-and-effect structures such as “because these auto-mobiles are polluting environment” and conditional phrasing such as “if the individuals do so.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “aeroplanes helps us” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “The depletion of ozone cause” and “our survival become difficult” also use incorrect verb forms. Articles are missing in phrases such as “polluting environment,” and “Much of the time will be consumed in this way” is not clearly constructed. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb, then build more accurate complex sentences.
