Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You state a general position that environmental benefits outweigh disadvantages, and you mention possible effects on individuals and businesses, such as limited facilities in small towns and business losses. However, the response only partly addresses the specific issue: it does not explain how reducing or stopping flights benefits the environment, nor does it clearly compare those benefits with the costs of flying less. The discussion shifts to city development, parks, cafés and hospitals, so much of the support is tangential to the question. The position is also difficult to follow, particularly in the opening and conclusion. The response is 17 words below the required minimum, which further limits the opportunity to develop relevant reasons and examples. Focus on air travel, emissions and access to work or customers, then explain why one side outweighs the other.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is an attempt to organise the response with an opening, body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Further” and “In conclusion” show awareness of essay structure. However, ideas do not progress in a clear sequence: the discussion moves from flying to hometown opportunities, city development, hospitals, parks and business losses without explaining the links. Some connections are also unclear, as in “the environmental benefits of the development outweigh” and “the other of things.” Repeated use of “I think so” and “the development” does not create clear cohesion, and punctuation spacing and capitalisation make the flow harder to follow. Build each paragraph around one relevant point, use clear references, and connect examples directly to the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

You attempt vocabulary related to the topic, including “environmental,” “beneficial,” “opportunities,” “business” and “disadvantages.” These choices show an effort to discuss impacts on people and commerce. However, the range is basic and often repetitive, and inaccurate word choice or spelling frequently makes the intended meaning difficult to understand. Examples include “wing” for “flying,” “harmful for public,” “business loss” and “environmental development,” which do not express the intended ideas precisely. There are also repeated spelling errors such as “oppurtunities,” “disadvantges” and “benficial.” Learn and use topic-specific phrases such as “reduce carbon emissions,” “air travel” and “business travel,” checking spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

You attempt both short statements and longer sentences, including a reason introduced by “Because” and a contrast beginning “But.” However, sentence structures are very limited, and errors in basic sentence formation frequently obscure meaning. For example, “Many people have done the number of times to low” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “the small city have not been avail” has problems with subject–verb agreement and verb construction. Articles, plurals and sentence boundaries are also inconsistently controlled, as in “The develop in this city new park” and the run-on conclusion. Practise forming clear subject–verb–object sentences first, then add accurate clauses using “because,” “although” and “while.” Check agreement, articles and punctuation when editing.
