Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response makes a limited attempt to discuss the topic, but it does not clearly answer whether the environmental benefits of reducing flights outweigh the disadvantages for individuals and businesses. You mention reasons people fly, such as work, convenience and facilities, and refer to pollution and traffic, so some relevant points are present. However, the discussion shifts to broad ideas about government, business and the environment without explaining how fewer flights would affect them or comparing benefits with disadvantages. The examples about your friend’s work in Dubai and a friend in an environmental department are difficult to connect to a clear argument. State your position directly, then develop one environmental benefit and one individual or business disadvantage with specific explanation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is an attempt to organise the response into stages, using phrases such as “firstly,” “on the other side” and “in clusion.” These signals show an effort to guide the reader, and the response includes examples. However, the ideas do not progress in a clear sequence: the opening is difficult to understand, and the paragraphs move between flight costs, work travel, business, government policy and pollution without clear links. Some connectors, including “similarly” and “although,” do not show the relationship between the ideas that follow. The conclusion also introduces a friend’s role rather than summarising a reasoned answer. Use one paragraph for disadvantages and another for environmental benefits, with each paragraph centred on a single main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the subject, including “flight expenses,” “environment,” “pollution,” “traffic problems” and “business policies.” This gives the response some topic-related language, and a few phrases communicate recognisable ideas. However, word choice and spelling are often inaccurate or unclear, as in “youngers,” “authorty,” “saft,” “petrolium businesss” and “play main rle.” Several expressions, such as “forget the daily flight” and “best facility,” do not convey the intended meaning naturally. Repetition of “business,” “environment” and “facility” also limits precision. Build a small set of accurate phrases for air travel and its effects, and check spelling and collocations before using less familiar vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “although” and “whereas.” This shows some effort to vary sentence structure. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence formation and verb patterns often make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “he mosly use fly every year” lacks a correct verb construction, while “fruit business facility” is not formed as a complete sentence. Subject–verb agreement and articles are also unreliable, as in “business also play role.” Punctuation and sentence boundaries need attention, particularly where several ideas are joined in one long sentence. Practise writing short, complete sentences first, then combine related ideas using accurate clauses.
