Student answer (Band 4.5)

Nowadays, some people have decided to reduce the number of times they fly every year or to flying altogether. We can think that is the enviromental benifits of this development outwieght the disadvantages for individuals and businesses.

To begin with, some people thinks that they will reduce the number of times they can fly every year. Many peoples travel across the world in different counteries some for attend their business meetings or related to business work or some for travel to explore the new counteries and some for study purpose. Due to this it plays a crucial role in economical field of country and also help for people to travel easily in any country and enjoy new cultures.

Although, if the number of times that people can fly reduces it also a great positive impact on environment becuase the air traffic were reduces and the air is also clean but it is not a major development.

From my prespective, if people don't travel by air or reduces the number of times they can fly have negative impact on individuals also for businesses. Due to this, businesses growth were effected and it will also reduces the number of tourists that's why they created the consequences for country economy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You take a position that reducing flights has environmental benefits but that the disadvantages for people and businesses are greater, and you mention relevant effects such as business travel, tourism and the economy. However, the comparison required by the question is only minimally addressed: the environmental benefit is briefly described as cleaner air, then dismissed as “not a major development,” without explanation or evidence. The disadvantages are also asserted rather than developed, and the conclusion is not clearly separated or fully supported. The response contains 191 words, so it is 59 words below the 250-word minimum; 16 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To strengthen the response, explain the scale of both sides and support your position with specific examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to reasons and then a personal view. Linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “Although,” and “From my perspective” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the second paragraph lists several reasons people fly, while the next introduces environmental benefits but does not connect them clearly to the comparison in the question. The final paragraph repeats the disadvantages without providing a distinct conclusion. Some connections are also awkward, particularly “Although” at the start of a sentence that does not complete a contrast. Organise the essay around one paragraph for benefits and one for disadvantages, then conclude by directly weighing them.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a small range of topic-related vocabulary, including “air traffic,” “environment,” “business meetings,” “tourists,” and “economy,” which makes the general subject understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “plays a crucial role” and “negative impact.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or repetitive, including “new counteries,” “economical field,” and “created the consequences.” Spelling errors such as “enviromental,” “benifits,” and “outwieght” are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the writing. Build a bank of precise terms for environmental effects and economic consequences, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, for example, “Many peoples travel across the world…” and the sentence beginning “Due to this…”. However, the range remains limited, and attempts to combine several ideas often produce faulty structures. Agreement and verb forms are recurring problems: “some people thinks,” “the air traffic were reduces,” and “businesses growth were effected.” The opening phrase “or to flying altogether” also uses an incorrect verb pattern, while “if people don't travel by air or reduces” does not maintain a consistent subject and verb structure. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and conditional sentences, and use shorter, complete sentences when expressing several connected points.
