Student answer (Band 6.0)

Environmental benefits may not outweigh the disadvantages for individuals and businesses. Though there are advantages like reduction of environment pollution, natural fuel reservation, disadvantages are still high in number. Export businesses may have to suffer due to it, Additionally, People will have less access to other countries to visit or enjoy.

Some transport vehicles like planes, helicopters burn significant amount of fuel to fly. As a result, harmful gasses like carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide are emitted to environment which are welcoming natural disasters. Furthermore, using natural resources everyday to run engines is not ideal. This is because everything in our world has a limit. As a result of reducing flights, earth might be revived from these harmful activities.

Although it has a few environmental benefits, individuals and bussinesses will face some disadvantages. There are some countries which totally depend on products of other countries. These businesses cannot run if owners reduce visiting to other countries. Consequently, price will rise substantially & instantly. Moreover, experiencing history and culture of other countries will have a massive shift due to less flights by people. Local businesses will shut down due to reduced amount of visitors, which can make a whole country suffer economically.

In conclusion, envionmental benefits cannot outweigh the disadvantages for individuals and businesses. To keep our environment safe, this is not the best solution at this moment. Instead of this, we should focus on burning coal, carosene, and other fuels in other things like factories, cars etc.. Disadvantages which will be caused by reduced flights will be immediate and instant, by which people from several countries will have to suffer.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You answer both parts of the question and state a consistent position: you believe the environmental gains do not outweigh the disadvantages. The discussion of emissions and finite fuel use is relevant, as are the possible effects on trade, tourism and local businesses. However, some points are asserted rather than explained. For example, the claim that businesses “cannot run” if owners reduce overseas visits needs clarification, since it is not clear why travel is essential to their operations. The environmental case is also brief, and the conclusion’s suggestion to focus on fuel use in factories and cars does not fully explain how this addresses aviation’s impact. Develop the main comparisons with clearer reasoning and a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on environmental effects and disadvantages, and a conclusion. The reader can follow the central argument, and linking expressions such as “As a result,” “Furthermore,” and “Moreover” help connect ideas. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For instance, “These businesses cannot run if owners reduce visiting to other countries” does not clearly show how reduced travel leads to business failure, and the shift from tourism to local businesses could be explained more smoothly. The conclusion also introduces a new comparison with factories and cars rather than drawing together the points already discussed. Use clearer cause-and-effect links and make each paragraph’s progression more explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “natural resources,” “emitted,” “environmental benefits,” and “economically,” which allows you to discuss both sides of the issue. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “substantially” and “depend on.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “natural fuel reservation,” “welcoming natural disasters,” and “reduced amount of visitors.” Spelling errors such as “bussinesses” and “envionmental” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your main argument, but they limit precision. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, use “conserving fossil fuels” and “contributing to climate change.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a concessive opening (“Though there are advantages…”) and a conditional sentence (“These businesses cannot run if owners reduce…”). Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical and punctuation errors occur. In “Some transport vehicles like planes, helicopters burn significant amount of fuel,” the list punctuation and article use need attention; “a significant amount” is required. “People will have less access to other countries to visit or enjoy” has an unclear grammatical relationship between access and the activities. There are also inconsistent capitalisation and punctuation choices, such as “Additionally, People” and the final “etc..”. Review articles, sentence boundaries and punctuation, while continuing to practise complex structures.
