Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, many people choose to decrease the total number of flights each year. Some individuals even choose to stop flying at all. Although this view will give benefits to the environment, I believe that there are more drawbacks to this claim for the majority of people and businesses.
Arguably, due to better opportunities, many individuals are employees and students in another country. These foreign nationals wait for a certain time in a year to go back to their home country and be with their families. In fact, Oversease Filipino Workers and international students go home during the holidays to unwind, relax, and see their loved ones. Not being able to do this can affect their mental health. Thus, flying each year will give them the motivation they need to work and study abroad.
Additionally, many business owners choose to fly for business opportunities and relations. Company owners uses face-to-face interaction as it effectively connects people, gain trust, and improve relationship. For instance, some foreign private companies provides employment and career opportunities to another country. In return, it holds a stronger relationship between and an economic growth for both countries.
Although there are risks in flying occasionally, especially to the environment as it affects the usage of some of the countries' natural resources such as oil preserves. Moreover, several countries point that too much tourists also adds negative effect to their environement. For example, an increase number of flights each year means a high consumption of oil; likewise, too much tourists means an increase in the number of garbage. Therefore, decreasing number of flights and tourists will help conserve oil, energy, and pollution.
In conclusion, majority of the people who fly every year are the workers, students, businessmen, and tourists, which are all beneficial to the society. These people greatly has contributed to the rising economy and their reason behind the travel is important. Although a drawback can be oil usage and overtourism, flying often gives people the chance to be with their families, and it provides employment to the people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you believe the disadvantages of reducing flights outweigh the environmental benefits. You address both sides, with relevant points about workers and students visiting family, business travel, oil consumption, and overtourism. The examples of overseas Filipino workers and international students help make the personal impact concrete. However, the business argument is less fully explained: the link between face-to-face meetings, employment, and economic growth is asserted rather than demonstrated. The environmental benefits are also acknowledged but not weighed in enough detail against the disadvantages, so the comparison is not consistently developed. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely why alternatives such as online meetings cannot replace some flights, and compare the scale of the environmental gains with the social and economic costs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, body paragraphs present personal and business disadvantages before environmental benefits, and the conclusion restates your position. Paragraphs generally have identifiable central topics, and connectors such as “Additionally,” “Although,” and “Therefore” help signal relationships. Some links are mechanical or unclear, however. In the business paragraph, “In return” does not clearly show how the preceding point leads to economic growth, while the environmental paragraph begins with “Although” but does not complete a clear contrast. The conclusion also introduces a broad claim about travellers benefiting society without fully connecting it to the earlier comparison. Use more precise transitions and make each paragraph’s reasoning progress step by step.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “face-to-face interaction,” “mental health,” “natural resources,” “consumption,” and “overtourism.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and some phrases show an attempt to discuss environmental and economic effects specifically. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “oil preserves,” “an increase number of flights,” and “adds negative effect.” There are also spelling errors, including “Oversease” and “environement,” which reduce the accuracy of the vocabulary. Aim for more natural combinations and check word forms and spelling. For example, use “oil reserves,” “an increased number of flights,” and “has a negative effect” to express these ideas more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses such as “Although there are risks in flying occasionally” and “Not being able to do this can affect their mental health.” Most of the meaning remains understandable, but some errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction are noticeable. For example, “Company owners uses” should be “Company owners use,” and “some foreign private companies provides” should be “some foreign private companies provide.” In “These people greatly has contributed,” the subject and verb do not agree; use “These people have greatly contributed.” The sentence beginning “Although there are risks” is also a fragment because the contrast is not completed. Review subject–verb agreement and ensure every subordinate clause is attached to a complete main clause.
