Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the modern era, more and more people are getting aware of global warming and other environmental crises, consequently everyone is contributing to save it in there own way. Many inividuals are choosing not to use air transport in high numbers or only fly when it is highly necessary. I believe it is a highly advantageous for environment, however it will create some issues for business persons.

Choosing not to fly is a great contribution for saving the environment. In long term it will be highly beneficial for all the living creatures on the planet. Individuals who make this decision, are directly contributing in reducing air pollution and noice pollution. In addition, less pollution also helps in conserving biodiversity. For instance, less aircrafts in the sky means fresh and safe surrounding for the birds like eagle, vulture, and kite, who usually fly high in the sky.

On the other hand, this decision can have negative effects on some individuals and businesses. For example, if you needed to travel to other country to meet your relatives and you decided not to, it can affect your relationship with them, specially if they were expecting you to come. Similarly, businessmans and businesswomens need to travel overseas for expanding their business or to make important business deals, although business deals can be done online with every aspect included, it is important to meet in person as it builds trust between business partners. And the decision of not flying, can seriously backfires specially when you have other businesses keeping and eye on you.

In conclusion, i accept that there are disadvantages of not flying for bussinesses and individuals, but i also believe the environmental benefits outweigh these disadvantages because we are already living in a highly toxic environment and environment is out source for everything, therefore conserving it is our main priority.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you consider reducing flights environmentally beneficial, despite costs to individuals and businesses. You address both sides and give relevant examples, including pollution and the effect of missed family visits or face-to-face business meetings. This covers the task well, and the environmental argument is supported with a specific illustration about birds. However, some points are less fully developed: the business example explains why meeting in person can build trust, but the claim that not flying can “seriously backfires” is unclear and not explained. The environmental case could also be more directly compared with the disadvantages to show why it outweighs them. A more explicit weighing of the two sides and fuller explanation of the less clear claims would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, separate paragraphs discuss benefits and disadvantages, and the conclusion restates your position. Linking phrases such as “In addition,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. This gives the essay a coherent progression. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. The long sentence beginning “Similarly, businessmans…” combines several ideas, making the relationship between online deals, trust, and the consequences of not flying harder to follow. The reference to “other businesses keeping and eye on you” is also unclear in context. Use shorter sentences to separate related points and make pronoun references and transitions more exact; this would make cohesion more flexible and less dependent on formulaic signposting.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “air transport,” “air pollution,” “biodiversity,” “business deals,” and “environmental benefits,” and you attempt some less common expressions such as “conserving biodiversity.” However, noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision: “inividuals,” “noice,” “aircrafts,” “businessmans,” and “bussinesses” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, such as “getting aware,” “contributing to save it,” and “our out source for everything.” These do not prevent the main argument from being understood, but they make parts of the response less fluent and occasionally obscure meaning. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common word partnerships, especially for environmental and business topics, rather than relying on direct translations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a conditional example (“if you needed to travel…”) and a concession introduced by “although.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “I believe it is a highly advantageous for environment” has an article and sentence-pattern problem, while “Individuals who make this decision, are directly contributing” has unnecessary punctuation between the subject and verb. The long sentence beginning “Similarly” also joins clauses without clear control, and “the decision of not flying, can seriously backfires” has agreement and punctuation problems. Practise article use, subject–verb agreement, and sentence boundaries, then proofread complex sentences to ensure each clause is complete and correctly connected.
