Student answer (Band 5.0)
Many individuals have planed to reduce the number of times they fly every year or to stop flying altogether. It has several environmental advantages such as reduction in pollution and fuel consumption. It also has some negative effects on international businesses and individuals's personal life. I think its advantages outweigh its disadvantages.
Reduction in the number of flying every year will decrease decrease will decrease the pollution. As, individuals travels more using planes reults in pollution. More travelling through palnes results in emission of differenet gases such as carbon dioxide and methane which are very dangerous for environment. These also enhances the temperature of earth. Moreover, pollution badly effects the health of individuals.
In addition, reduction in the number of flying every year will conservation of natural resources like fulel. More tarevelling by planes increase the consumption of fuel. More flying is a threat to instinction of resources.
On the other hand, reduction in the number of flying every year will be inconvenient for individuals. Sometimes people have to go somewhere in emergency. Travelling through trains, buses and cars will take too much time. tarvelling by road will be hectic and tough as compared with planes. Furthermore, It will also effect the business, many indiviiduals tour internationally for their business meetings. This will effect their meeting and trainings. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear overall view in the introduction, stating that the environmental advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and you address both sides with relevant points about pollution, fuel use, travel inconvenience, business meetings and overseas study. However, the response is only 235 words, so it does not meet the 250-word minimum; the 15 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Several points remain brief or general: for example, the effects on businesses and students are listed but not explained with a specific example, and the conclusion begins “On balance,” but is unfinished. This leaves the position without a final summary and means the task is only partially developed. Extend the explanation of your main reasons and complete the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on environmental benefits, a paragraph on disadvantages, and an attempted conclusion. Linking phrases such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “Furthermore” help signal the direction of ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear or repetitive. The sentence “Reduction in the number of flying every year will decrease decrease will decrease the pollution” interrupts the environmental argument, and repeated references to “reduction in the number of flying” make the writing mechanical. The final paragraph ends with “On balance,” without completing the thought, so the overall progression is incomplete. Group related points more clearly and use pronouns or varied references to connect them.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “pollution,” “carbon dioxide,” “fuel consumption,” “international businesses,” and “business meetings,” which makes the main subject clear. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make parts difficult to read, such as “instinction of resources,” “tarevelling,” “palnes,” and “hurdels.” Phrases such as “the number of flying” and “enhances the temperature of earth” are also unnatural or imprecise. Aim to learn common collocations for this topic, such as “the number of flights,” “contribute to global warming,” and “deplete natural resources.” Proofreading for spelling and choosing precise expressions would make your ideas easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including “Sometimes people have to go somewhere in emergency” and a sentence beginning “As, individuals travels more…”. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “individuals travels,” missing or incorrect articles in “in emergency” and “temperature of earth,” and faulty sentence construction in “reduction … will conservation of natural resources.” The opening also has an incomplete verb phrase: “Many individuals have planed to reduce.” Punctuation is sometimes inaccurate, as in “As,” at the start of a sentence. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement, articles and sentence boundaries.
