Student answer (Band 5.0)
In modern society, citizens started to reduce the number of times that they flies over a year or to exist flying. I think the advantages outweigh disadvantages because aeroplane take a lot of money and feel disgusting.
To begin with, there are numerous benefits of stop flying altogether. Firstly, it saves a lot of money and can travel by buses, taxi's and cars easily. Also it help to save environmental pollution and global warming. In addition, if we stop to travel by plane, it control to clean air.
However, drawbacks associated with it cannot be ignored to. First of all, it take a lot of time to travel out of country, hard to meet friends and family easily. Moreover, it is also hard for business meeting to meet physically. It cause problems is tourism industry.
In conclusion, traveling by plane is also important because many employ worked out of country, for that they have to travel by plane. Although, if we stop travelling plane it saves our money because they take a lot of money for flight tickets. Hence, in my opinion the benefits outshine the drawbacks.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear overall view in the opening and conclusion: you believe the benefits outweigh the disadvantages. You also address both sides, mentioning pollution and global warming as benefits, and travel time, family contact, business meetings and tourism as drawbacks. However, the position is only partially supported: points such as “it saves a lot of money” are asserted without explaining when this applies, and the environmental benefits are not developed with specific reasoning or examples. The conclusion introduces overseas employment but does not connect it clearly to your comparison. The response is also 63 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop the ideas. Explain the effects and support them with relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad direction. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and several points are listed rather than linked or explained. Some connections are unclear, as in “it control to clean air,” while the conclusion repeats the money-saving point instead of drawing together the main comparison. Use linking language to show cause and effect, and make each paragraph develop one central idea through explanation or an example. This would make the organisation more coherent and less dependent on formulaic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “environmental pollution,” “global warming,” “tourism industry,” and “business meeting,” so the reader can identify the main subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making meaning difficult to follow. For example, “exist flying” does not express stopping air travel, and “feel disgusting” appears intended to describe a negative experience but is unclear. Phrases such as “stop to travel by plane” and “it control to clean air” also show difficulty selecting natural expressions. Build a more precise set of phrases for environmental impact, travel alternatives and business consequences, and check that each expression fits its context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a few longer structures, including “because” and “although” clauses, and use basic sentence patterns to communicate your main position. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction. Examples include “they flies,” “it help,” and “it take,” where the subject and verb do not agree, as well as “Although, if we stop travelling plane it saves our money,” which is not formed as a complete, clear sentence. Some errors make the intended meaning harder to understand. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “although” and “if.” Check each sentence for a clear subject, verb and complete structure.
