Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, many people has chosed to reduce the number of times they fly every year. They believe that using cars rather than the flights is cost effective process. I strongly believe that this development have many advantages that are outweigh the disadvantages for businesses.

Reducing numbers of flight may result in losing tourist attraction towards some areas, as tourism play crucial role in economy of that particular area. Many shops and resturants might be closed resulting in unemployment. Moreover, many goods are transported through aeroplans, if we reduce the flights than country's trade will stop resulting in degradation of economy. On the otherhand, many businessman have started to use their road vehicles due to increasing in flight tickets. They believe that using cars and public transport may minimize traveling cost and save fuel consumption, realizing that fuel is finite. For instance, Many businessman are preferd online meeting rather than physical meeting because it will save their traveling time and efforts. This step may result in to participate many meeting in a single day.

Many people argue that flying of unnecessary private jets making environment more polluted. They believe that air vehicles should be baned as these are resulting in air pollution which are causing many health issues. Moreover, they argue that businessmans and individual having their own private jets should be resticted and they must adopt another way of traveling. Altough, Bussiness tours and trips have many benefits but these are outweigh for long term environmental advantages. To illustration, many chinese people are adopting electric vehicles for inter country trips rather than private jets and flights. As these cars are eco-friendly and also save fuel consumption. So, using these alternative methods will reduce air pollution.

To conclude, minimizing flights movement might affect economy of a country followed by its trade. However, many road vehicles and alternate method should be adopted to control air pollution and make environment good. I strongly believe this development outweigh the disadvantages for individuals but environmental benefits are more valuable. Thus, citizens should choose other way for traveling by saving fuel and environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the question and state a position: you acknowledge possible economic costs, then argue that environmental benefits are more valuable. Relevant points include tourism-related employment, trade, pollution and alternatives such as online meetings and electric vehicles. However, the comparison is not consistently clear: the opening refers to advantages for businesses, while the conclusion says the benefits outweigh disadvantages for individuals, without fully explaining how the effects differ for each group. Some points, such as the claim that reducing flights could stop a country’s trade, are asserted rather than carefully qualified or supported. Develop the central comparison with specific reasoning and examples, and keep your position consistent throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally relate to the topic. You also use linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand” and “To conclude.” However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the first body paragraph moves from tourism and trade to business travel and online meetings, while the relationship between these points is not always made explicit. Some connectors are used mechanically or inaccurately, and references such as “these” in “these are resulting in air pollution” are unclear. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, then explain its consequence and example, using transitions that show the precise relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “tourism,” “unemployment,” “air pollution,” “eco-friendly” and “fuel consumption,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at less common expressions, but inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the message less clear. Examples include “tourist attraction towards some areas,” “degradation of economy,” “businessmans” and “To illustration.” Several words are also misspelled, such as “resturants,” “aeroplans” and “baned.” Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would also help distinguish commercial flights, private jets and other forms of air travel.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “as” and “because,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “many people has chosed” should have a plural subject with a correctly formed verb, and “tourism play crucial role” needs agreement and an article. The sentence beginning “Moreover, many goods are transported through aeroplans” joins ideas with a comma where clearer sentence boundaries are needed. There are also awkward constructions such as “This step may result in to participate many meeting.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and build complex sentences with clear clause boundaries.
